Using photographers that are students?

Anyone know of any students from Austin, like from the Art Institute that would be willing to do wedding pics?!  Ive been looking for a photographer to do my wedding in Fredericksburg and Ive been completely blown away by their prices!!! I was told that sometimes students like to do this to build a portfolio and get good recommendations...any ideas would be helpful! Thanks yall!

    Are you looking for free photography, or just inexpensive? I am not sure you will have any luck finding someone who would do it for free. Weddings are a lot of work to photograph.

    No def not for free!! Just not willing to pay 2500+ for a photographer!

    I did the photojournalism program through UT so I actually know several photogs just starting out. You're welcome to email me at sweeting09 [at] gmail [dot] com if you're interested and I'll round up some names.My two cents, though? Photography is not something you want to skimp on. There are many photogs in Austin that will work with your budget but still do a killer job. The pictures are something you'll have for years - make sure they're perfect!

    You might also want to check out craigslist.  There is often really cheap deals on there.

    Personally, I think i'd rather find a professional that's just starting out, rather than a student (of course I may be biased).  Students just have alot of other things going on and haven't really thought about 'business' much (I'm generalizing here - I'm sure there are very experienced students out there too).  Someone that's actually going into business right NOW will value you as a customer and want to make sure you're happy and hope for word of mouth for future businesses, in addition to building their portfolio.  I also agree with pp that photos are really going to be your lasting memories, so even if you're on a budget, try and find a photographer that really matches the style you and your FI like - you'll be looking at these 60 years from now!  Feel free to email me if you want more info:tiffany at tiffanycrossphoto dot com

    Thank you ladies. And you are right. I dont want to skimp out on a great photographer just because I was having a freak out-cheap-o moment! I slept on it and now I know I dont want a student LOL I have found a few that fit in to my price range and they have my date open. So now I just have to decide which one. Thanks again ladies!
