Wildflowers for weddings?

I am having my wedding at my FI's childhood church in Austin and reception in the fellowship hall there. The church is semi-formal, so I am wondering what other people think about using wild flowers in the decorations/center pieces. I absolutly love Texas wildflowers like Bluebonnets, indian paint brushes and sunflowers/yellow daisys but are they too casual for a church wedding? I have always been a pretty country girl but I also dont want to look like a redneck or something in this beautiful church with wildflowers around.

Oh also, what are peoples opinions on using silk flowers for center pieces? Since we are both college students we are trying to keep this cheap and alot of it is DIY. SO silk Tacky or just thrifty?

Maybe you can incorporate some bunched wildflowers for your bouquet or for your BMs. Or just use them as accents throughout all of your arrangements. As far as using silk flowers, I am not a fan of using them for a wedding. Sometimes silk flowers can come out pretty expensive too like i've seen at Michaels. Try giving Rebekah at The Glass Fountain a call or email her, you will be surprised at how affordable wedding flowers can really be. GL

I LOVE the idea of using wildflowers! I say go for it! And the other girl is right, sometimes using fake flowers can be just as if not more expensive than real. Try talking to some florists first. If thats still out of your price range and you want to DIY there are wholesale flower markets where you can get a great deal on flowers to DIY centerpieces. Good Luck!
