marriage license

I don't think this has been posted in awhile and I can't find any of the old posts. How long does it on average take to get your marriage license (travis county). . We have to take off work to get it so we were curious. Also- any time saving tips? What did you bring for id?

I went on a weekday afternon and it only took about 15-20 minutes. I think I brought my driver's license and SS card.

I found something out that might be helpful to out of town or state brides... you don't have to drive to the state you are getting married. You just need a license - it can be from another state or county.

The county portion is certainly true, but the state license will depend on your officiant.  If they're authorized to by the state in which the license will be filed (the state that originally gave you the license), then it will should be OK.  Definitely something to thoroughly check out before trying though.
