Engagement pics

We are planning to take our engagement pics this weekend out on my aunt and uncles ranch. I was just wondering what colors look best in the pics and what not to wear. We are going to do pics with casual clothes and then a little bit nicer clothes and wanted to see what ya'll recommended! TIA!!

Some no-brainers - black's the most flattering, white the least. Stay away from too many colors mixed together and big patterns. Simple is good. Also, I've advised clients in the past to skip caffeine and salt the day before a shoot because both can make you bloat a bit. Drink lots of water.Wear something you're comfortable in, and have fun!

Blues and greens are best because cool colors recede and makes it so that the first thing your eye is drawn to in the photograph are your pretty faces! (Check out this family photo http://tinyurl.com/mhqxaw, and this portrait http://tinyurl.com/nb32x4 and you'll see what I mean.) Also, reducing the amount of skin showing on the arms will help draw attention to your face as well, so something with sleeves is best. I would stay away from pure black and white, red, yellow, hot pink and orange... unless you're doing something very style-ized. BUT- these are just general rules. Some of my favorite photos involve people who broke the rules! (Like my cousin in a sleeveless yellow dress http://tinyurl.com/nmb5kq, or both my cousins in yellow and pink together http://tinyurl.com/lglu6d!) In general, you should just wear something flattering that makes you happy, and make sure that what you're both wearing looks good together! Let your own personal style shine through... those are the best portraits. HTH!
