Thursday night bar recs

All our wedding party is arriving next Thursday and we want to show them a glimpse of Austin nightlife (6th or 4th). We're looking for somewhere that can easily handle a crowd (25 people or so) where we could both sit and mingle. Also somewhere we can be loud and not disturb classier patrons, but not so loud we can't hear each other talk (does that make me an old lady?). Any ideas on where to do this on a Thursday night? FWIW, bars we generally like include Key Bar, Brown Bar, and Gingerman.

The Tap Room never disappoints. One 2 One has a fabulous rooftop deck.

This only applies if you plan to go out earlier in the evening, like 9ish.  I really like Lanai for early evenings because it is usually fairly dead, has a great view of downtown, and there are couches and tables to sit at.  It does start to get packed as it gets later though.

i would try Six or 219 West if you are going for happy hour.

I have to throw the Belmont in there. They have the upstairs rooms & terrace as well as the patio downstairs around back. And valet parking.

I second a PP. 219 West is good for happy hour/earlier in the night... The seating can accomodate a large crowd and it isn't loud/clubby in there.

Depends on 219 - I've gone there for hh and it can be packed! I guess it just depends. You mentioned the Gingerman - I still think that's a good idea. Have you been to the new one yet (so not the same, but what can you do...)? They have a great area in the back (to the right) that sounds like it could be perfect for you guys! Granted, try to get there at a decent hour so you can commandeer the area...

Thanks for the suggestions. Lots of people are getting in kind of late and we'll be doing family dinners and such, so we're probably going to meet up around 9:30 or 10. Keep 'em coming if you have any other suggestions!
