Texas-Austin

House hunting headache =(

FI and I currently live separately (call us old fashioned!) and so are trying to find a place to live when we get married. We're having a bit of a struggle. Where do you all live, or have lived, that you love? Area's not a huge deal - we do like central or south. And we have pets...Also, isn't there a knottie that does real estate/apartment locating?TIA

well i stay north austin (pflugerville) but i've used two apartment locators/realtors (which is a free service) and they were GREAT!!! I used marcy dickson (mdickson@apartmentwiz.com) she helped me find a place when i moved from san antonio. now my FI and I are looking for a house and i still use marcy but kirsten Messina (kirsten1234@msn.com) they are both VERY RELIABLE and will send email pics of the houses that you are looking for before you set a time to go view them. hope this helps

are you looking to rent or buy?  what's your budget if you're buying?  what kind of size are you looking for?i live at enfield(15th)/mopac now and i love it, but it's definitely pricey down here.  Not sure what the apartments cost though - they might be alright.  our first house (which I bought by myself when DH and I were still long distance dating) was in Pflugerville and it was fine for the price.  There's a lot of good value if you'll be ok in the burbs.

If you are looking to rent, I definitely second finding a locater service. There are SO many around Austin and they're free. They'll do all the hard work for you- just give them your preferences and they'll show you what fits. I agree that the Enfield area is really great. When I was a student in Austin, I always wanted to get a house around there upon graduation (but then I moved to FABULOUS Killeen, ha!). South Austin has really developed a lot... my dad and grandparents live in that area.  Depending if you mind the drive, Buda has some really cute houses... as does the northern suburb areas.

I lived at Austin Trail Apartments off Mopac between Ben White & William Cannon for two years before I moved in with FI. It is a nice place and had good rent $ when I lived there. Good sized apartments, quiet.

Hey, I'm from Round Rock so I know the area really well, and I'm an agent. I can help you find a place (no charge, obviously), the only downside is that my wedding is on the 19th and I'll be out of the country until Oct. 5th. Send me an e-mail if you like, though, I would love something else to think about other than ribbon threaded through plates and all that junk :Pchristinemcelroy@kw.com

FI just moved into the townhouse that I rent and we are moving soon. The townhouse I rent is an amazing deal in central Austin (near 6th and West Lynn) -- 2 bedroom/2.5 bath ~ 1000 square feet. And they allow pets. If you're interested in knowing more, you can email me at oksuzi @ hotmail dot com. This is a rental unit, though, so keep that in mind. I will be available late this month.
