still stuck on makeup

I know we've been through this 15 times already, but I'm still having a hard time picking out a makeup artist. I can't believe that it's $100-$150 with some of them! For you married gals that had your makeup done, was it worth it? Who all can you recommend? I think I'm going to go with Edelweiss salon for hair since it comes so highly recommended by henderstraus and jillers (and victrola too, I think?), so something in South Austin would be good. Thanks for the help - I'm ready to pull my hair out on this one!

First, don't pull your hair out. A gorgeous bride that does not make. ;-) I also used Alex with Edelweiss and she did an amazing job with ALL my ladies (we had about 10). She single handedly got them all fixed up, and super fast. It was amazing just how well she does hair. With makeup, I used Modern Muse. Now I know Katie is out on maternity, but her apprentice Kristin does super great! Kristin did my trial, my bridals and 90% of my wedding day makeup. Katie's mom also does makeup and equally did an amazing job (they both did my girls as well). I would email and see what they can do for you in the way of price. Hope that helps some!

I do think it's worth it. (or it was for me) The difference makeup made in my photos was clear to me - and it lasted all night so I wasn't spoltchy or freckly. I used Katie Astoria. She came to me. I know she's should be having her baby... like right now... but she's totally worth calling. She's wonderful.

Knottie/nestie TexanSarah is doing my make-up. Her rates are much more reasonable. I had my trial on Sunday and I loved it. I don't wear make-up daily, so I couldn't imagine having someone caking a whole bunch on me for my wedding, but Sarah did a great job balancing the natural look I'm used to with the dressed up/bridal look I still wanted.

Definitely go with Katie at Modern Muse Makeup. She did an amazing job and can travel to you. She came all the way to Kyle for me! Not only that - my makeup looked fabulous all day/night on a 100 degree day. outside. So she's definitely worth the investment.

I used Alex with Edelweiss for my hair and Katie with Modern Muse for makeup and they both were wonderful! Recommend them completely!

I'm not paying nearly that much! LucieMarie is much more reasonable (I'm paying less than $150 for both hair and makeup!), and they'll come to you. I used Tracy McCaskill and some other people have to for hair and makeup and she lives in South Austin so she probably wouldn't charge you a travel fee to come to you where ever you are.  tracymakeup@gmail.com.Oh and I paid $100 for her to do both my hair and makeup so it would be way less for just makeup.  (PS: in case you are wondering, the pics in my siggy are "we did it"pics and i didn't get my hair and makeup done in them, but if you want pics you can email me at mandylou2004@yahoo.com)

I am using Katie Astoria and just spoke to her last night and she has still not had the baby - she is being induced this Sunday if she does not go into labor before then, so I think she will be out for anything till sometime in late October. But she does has a couple assistants who she has personally trained who are great. She is very reasonable - second pp's.

Katie's assistants did mine and my bridal parties makeup with Katie there watching and helping out. Those girls did an amazing job! Katie is SUPER awesome but her ladies are right there with her. You can email Katie to get in touch with Kristin.
