rain rain go away!!!

I'm getting married in Salado next weekend, and I heard the creek covered IH-35 today... so I had to check it out for myself. Yep. Not only that, but both our church and reception venue are on the creek! Luckily, the church is on very high ground, and the building where the reception will be held is too although half their grounds were flooded as of 6 p.m. tonight. FI and I were moving some furniture to my grandparents' house near there today so we had to pop in and see how Salado was faring after 13" of rain- not so great. Main street bridge is blocked off, caked in huge slabs of mud and silt, an old suburban is wedged under the bridge next to an uprooted tree, and the normally docile creek is a raging river. Just looking at it stressed me out, but supposedly the sun is supposed to come out next week however if it doesn't....Oh and did I mention that bridge separates the church from the reception venue.Venue has dirt parking lot- maybe I should warn my guests to bring galoshes :SI hope this rain didn't spoil any of the 9/12 weddings in the Austin area! I really don't mind if it rains, and I know things will work out (that's what my mom told me tonight), but if it keeps raining all week, we may have to row people over to the reception hall!ugh.

I refuse to speak in negative words about the rain. We need this so badly. However, I'm sorry it's causing you and your FI stress. Good luck!

I agree, I mean I am one who prayed all summer for it- and it did come a gullywash! I was just venting because the bridge is now destroyed and closed indefinitely, which makes it difficult on the guests but it will all work out. Someone told me that rain on the wedding day means wealth ;)I shouldn't be so petty, at least I don't live on the creek where so many people had to evacuate as their homes and businesses were destroyed. With the good comes the bad, I suppose.

I live in Killeen and we have had rain non-stop too. I saw on the local news what was happening in Salado. I hope things clear up this week in time for your wedding! The news this morning said the rain was moving out of the area today and the next chance of rain wasn't until Sunday. Crossing my fingers that everything works out for you. Having this added stress the last minute is not cool, and the weather is definitely something you can't control! Ultimately, rain or shine, your day will be great... as long as you and your groom make it to the ceremony and exchange those vows nothing else will matter!
