Non-traditional ceremony music

Yes, it's a bit late in the game to not have ceremony music. I'm dealing with it.I don't want anything super wedding-y (no pachabel's canon, no wedding march).Anyone have any suggestions? I'm playing around with israel kamakawiwo'ole's version of "Over the rainbow"Louis Armstrong's "It's a Wonderful World"Ben Fold's "The Luckiest"Any other ideas? Thanks!

I am playing on itunes right now, checking out Vitamin String Quartet. They have an album, Rock N Roll weddings, and about 3500 other songs that are instrumentals of popular songs. You could even walk doen the Aisle to kanye if you want to!

Im thinking of walking down the aisle to "Peaceful, easy feeling" from the dting quartest's tribute to the Eagles.. I think I will need that peaceful encouragement, and my dad and i used to listen to the Eagles together all the time. It will be a surprise to him... wither that or their version of brown eyed girl. They also have a good rendition of Jeff Buckley's Halelujah

I'm walking down to a guitar-only version of "slow motion" by David Gray...the rest I have yet to figure out. Are you having live music at your ceremony? If so you can always ask the musicians if they have any recommendations. I think that's what I'll end up doing for the rest of the ceremony music. I was only able to pick my walking song because I'm BSC for David Gray.

I like "Over The Rainbow"! I think the key is to choose songs you love that are meaningful to you, so if that's what you want, go for it! :) We have a guitarist playing during our ceremony, and he learned several new songs for our wedding. Here's what we chose: Seating of the Families - "Inevitable" by Anberlin Processional - "Let That Be Enough" by Switchfoot Entrance of the Bride - "Stolen" by Dashboard Confessional Communion - "I Heard The Voice of Jesus Say" (This is actually a hymn the guitarist recommended, which I hadn't heard of before, but now I love it!) Sand Ceremony - "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" by Death Cab For Cutie Recessional - "God Only Knows" by The Beach Boys If you're looking for instrumental versions of popular songs, I definitely second Vitamin String Quartet! Before we had a guitarist booked, this is what I thought we would do, so I have a ton of their songs downloaded now. These are my favs from them: "The Way You Love Me" by Faith Hill "Wouldn't It Be Nice" and "God Only Knows" by The Beach Boys "Home Life" by John Mayer "Nine In The Afternoon" by Panic! At The Disco "Somebody To Love" by Queen "Let That Be Enough" by Switchfoot "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" by The Darkness "Stolen" by Dashboard Confessional "Starlight" by Muse "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay

We had pretty traditional music except for our recessional, which was "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys. It sounded really good on strings.

We're also having non-traditional music at the end. We're doing The Cure for our recessional and Coldplay for the last piece as guests are leaving.
