any suggestions on where to get my cake?

I am on the hunt to find a person to do our cakes. i am looking for a white/yellow cake with buttercream icing, 3-4 tiers. i want square instead of round. my FI will most likely go with the german chocolate cake as well. I am starting my search in hopes to find a very good but reasonable baker to do so. TIA!!!

I'm going with Classy Cakes by Lori Boedecker.  She's making a 3 tier lemon cake with lemon tart filling...and cream cheese/butter cream icing.  The grooms cake is a german chocolate cake with chocolate covered strawberries. She works out of her own home and is very reasonably priced.  The tasting was a lot of fun, and she had every flavor you could think of.  Let me know if you want her info.  :-)

I'm using Gale Hendricks with Gale's Cakes.  She also does it out of her home and is really reasonably priced.  My cake is $2/slice, and groom's cake is $1/slice.  She'll meet you with samples and tons of pictures.  And her buttercream is awesome.  :)  Her phone # is 512-694-4710.  Good luck!

Sorry i'm late, but i gotta throw in a vote for my baker, too! We used Torte Bella and the cakes were unbelievable (read: best thing I've ever eaten). For our 3 tier brides cake and our 3D fondant grooms cake, we spent about $450, including cake stand and delivery. Served about 110-120. We had a white cake with buttercream icing and I'm still eating it, standing over the sink in my kitchen. Definitely check them out.

Actually, I used Michelle with The Sweet Stuff in Kyle. www.thesweetstuff.com  Her cake was A-Freakin-Mazing.  I'm gathering pics and reviews. But she gets an A++++

We used Krissy with http://www.krissyscakes.com/ Our cakes were delicious and everyone commented on how beautiful they were!   Everyone thought that the butter cream icing was so well done it looked as smooth as fondant.   Krissy was a delight to work with and she is reasonably priced as well.  Good luck!

Here's another vote for Matty's Cakes! I'm not a sweets person at all, don't usually care for cake, but I loooooved his cakes. We just met him yesterday for our final meeting, and I just love that guy! He cracks me up :)  I'm actually really sad I won't get to work with him anymore soon.

There is new cake designer in town. Love her work - Jeanna with Humble Pie Desserts. Tasted a sample last time I was in Austin at an open house. Very yummy and great prices!

We have also booked Classic Cakes by Lori. She was AWESOME and totally understood my vision for the cake (I decorate cakes in my spare time so this was super important to me).Good luck with the cake search! That was definitely my FI's favorite part!

We received lots of compliments on our cake from Simon-Lee Bakery.  Have heard good things about Michelle's Patisserie.

Not too sure if you're on a budget, but I would recommend Just For Fun Cakes.  Their smaller, but their cakes taste awesome!  I had one from there for a baby shower I went to and it was so frickin adorable and tasted great.  So we're considering them for our wedding.  They price their wedding cakes different than everyone else.  Instead of per slice, it's per cake.  For example, if you want three teirs, that's three different sized cakes they have to cook... then they charge you for the filling, etc.  We've been looking around for cake people and for the size cake we're going to need and filling and the extra hand made chocolate pieces (leaves, etc.) and ganache poured on top,  it's only going to cost like $200 for 60 guests.  Plus their options are never ending....  I would highly recommend them.  (no i don't work there, I just loooove their cakes)

I loved Krissy's Cakes.  She is so nice and great to work with.  Our cakes turned out exactly the way I wanted them, even though I wasn't quite sure exactly what I wanted!!  Does that even makes sense???  that just shows you how awesome she is!

Be sure to talk with Krissy at Krissy's Cakes - she's the queen of buttercream, but if you need fondant, does that equally well. Great to work with, artistic designs, and taste to die for.  I took her unusual designs for both a wedding cake and a groom's cake, and we were delighted with both.

Before you decide on a standard flavor, try some of her more unusual ones - they're incredible and so much more memorable!  We had mocha with an intense fudgelike filling, lemon with a cream cheese based filling, and an orange poppyseed with rasberry filling.  Wish there had been some left to take home, but our guests enjoyed it all so much there was nothing left.
