AW: Vendor Reviews and For Sale

Officiant: Suzanne Louzau of One Fine Day - A - Perfect to work with, she appreciated our sense of humor, and helped us to write the perfect vows for our day. She saved me when I almost walked back down the aisle without my bouquet and struck the perfect cord between funny and serious on our special day. Venue: Avery Ranch - B - While everything went well on our special day (mostly) - the customer service overall at this place left much to be desired. Our original planner quit and her replacement Kari left much to be desired. They were so disorganized at first that they didnt even know what I had been quoted for pricing. While they mostly redeemed themselves the day of there was one notable exception in the Catering Manager Bob. He was a complete jerk. He yelled at my photographer, my mother, my maid of honor, and even at the Groom. His attitude nearly ruined an otherwise perfect day. DJ: Fred at Encore Entertainment - A - Fred was a jewel. He may come across a bit abrasive/goofy - but he was dead on the entire day and night. He kept people on the dance floor and transitioned the party from the dances to the cake cutting to the final dance. Photo Booth: Todd @ Say Cheese - A- - the minus is for the lack of props at our wedding. We had attended a wedding they did two weeks before ours and there was a much larger/more organized arrangement of props for the photography - other than that - it was awesome! Photographer - Melissa @ Hemera Nyx - A+++++++ - I have never been more comfortable or more impressed with a wedding photographer. Even my guests were commenting how awesome and personable she was. She got all the shots without being intrusive and captured some beautiful moments of my husband and i without us ever noticing. She really is God's gift to wedding photography. Flowers: Rebekah @ the Glass Fountain - B+ - I'm sorry to give this rating to Rebekah as everything with her went really smoothly - except the day of the wedding. My flowers were dropped off four hours before the ceremony and by the time I received them half of my bridal bouquet was dead. My MOH's bouquet was not at all different from my bridesmaids as I had asked it to be, and instead of all my bridesmaids having the same color flowers - they were all different shades! I was the most disappointed in the flowers out of anything else that day. Cake: Michelle of Michelle's Patisserie - A+++ - the cake was amazing. Absolutely amazing. We ordered 50 slices OVER our guest count and they were all gone. We have received notes from over a dozen of our guests commenting on the awesome party - and the cake. In fact, three of the wedding guests have booked her for their weddings! Makeup: Katie Astoria @ Modern Muse Makeup - A+ - How to say this without sounding vain.. I looked amazing. I have a bit of redness to my skin that Katie covered up perfectly without making it look like I bathed in foundation. My makeup stayed perfect for over 10 hours with ZERO reapplication. She was on time and even came to my house! Loved her! Hair - Kristin @ Aveda Avant Salon Gateway - B+ - while my hair looked gorgeous - I had to add about 20 additional pins to it to keep it from falling out. I had mentioned this problem to her with my trial run but she didnt seem to take it seriously, which didn't thrill me. I hope the reviews helped you out! take care, kel --- For sale in my profile: black and white glass vases from the reception, candy jars, veil and dress! :)

Hey all, I just spoke with Rebekah from The Glass Fountain and I need to append her rating and lower the rating of Avery Ranch. I couldn't figure out how to edit the original postd. so here is the update. Avery Ranch - C - The rating change is due to the fact that I was informed that the flowers were dead because Bob from Avery Ranch never placed my flowers in the refrigerator despite promising my flower vendor that he would - and not allowing her to do so herself. This guy was a total jerk and Avery Ranch would do well to rid themselves of him. Rebekah @ The Glass Fountain - A - Despite the color difference (which I understand varies in the variety of flower I chose) - the dead flowers were not her fault. Every single thing that went wrong with my flowers can be laid squarely on the shoulders of Bob at Avery Ranch. Thanks, Kel

Thank you so much for your reviews! I'm glad you were able to have an amazing day despite the ridiculousness of the venue coordinator. Congratulations!

@ChrisChelsea - Bob was awful. Unfortunately, he is the catering manager. I dealt mostly with Kari who while very forgetful during the planning stage, really pulled through on the day of. The staff was pretty prompt and helpful from what I heard from the guests. I would check and make sure there is not another event the day of your wedding. They told me when I booked that they did 1 wedding a day... when I was there they had the entire inside of the clubhouse for another reception that was going on at the same time as our wedding/reception! I think it's all a matter of asking the right questions and prepping your person at Avery Ranch. I put my Maid of Honor in charge of my reception and she was a master at hiding the Bob situations from me.

So I know you said the flower problem which sounds horrible and I will ask about that prior, what else did he do that your maid if honor hid? I just want to know what to look out for and I will definatly ask to see if i'm the only one that day they will schedule. Thanks so much for answering me back! Chels.

Here's what I've found out about so far: 1. All the drama with the flowers - we decorated the stone arch with two floral wreaths. Bob wouldn't let our florist do it citing insurance liability - and then never did it himself as promised. We ended up having a groomsman tie them up there 20 minutes before the ceremony. Also failing to refrigerate the flowers at all after promising to do so. 2. Yelled at my photographer for taking shots of the grounds and said that "he was super protective of his brides" and didn't want other photographers sneaking around taking pictures. (seriously? I'm not Britney, there wasn't a real strong chance of the paparazzi showing up!) 3. Yelled at my groom for bringing a 12 pack of Coke for hte groomsmen to drink while they were waiting for pictures because our contract said "no outside drinks" - we had an OPEN BAR. He didn't even offer to get them something to drink after screaming at them. 4. Yelled at my mother for "wandering around" the clubhouse - she was looking for the bridal room! I really hope I'm not freaking you out! I think it's all a matter of managing Bob - if he's not going to let your florist hang things up - he needs to have someone do it NOW. I'd ask someone to find your coordinator right when you get there - I couldn't find mine for the first hour. I had to have a busboy let us into the bridal room. If you have a day of coordinator, I'd have her/him speak with Bob prior to figure out what he's going to take care of.
