Rent Vacation Home for Wedding?

Have you heard of this?

Through a friend, I found a vacation home rental site with AWESOME homes all around Austin and beyond.  I thought this might be a great idea for my restricted budget with 25-35 guests- if they will allow a wedding.  (I'm not all that concerned with the bedrooms, etc. but more with the appropriate space to throw this shindig.)

Is anyone familiar or have any ideas to give me some direction?

I just got engaged and we're shooting for a wedding the 2nd weekend in November, so there's not alot of time to get a venue before someone else takes it.  Originally, our vision was Hill-Country, Boots-and-Beer, and Charming, where wedding guests will have alot of fun.  I'm wondering if there's a house rental available with that feel.  Otherwise, I'm flexible.

i looked into this too and it can be really expensive as as soon as you say anything about an event and how many people you are having, they tack on a lot of extra fees and rules. here are three places i looked at that sound like what you might be looking for. if you scroll to page 2 i think, someone asked about ranch weddings and i commented there along with a couple other ladies that had some good suggestions

I agree as well that they typically tack on extra fees when you say "wedding". Also have to remember that they may not have tables, chairs, silverware etc that the typical venue offers.

I tried going this route and it ended up being alot more of a headache in the end!  Alot of homes have pretty restrictive rules on house parties.  The extra fees for having a party were killer- much more than renting out a wedding venue.  Furthermore, the noise ordinance in the neghborhoods could limit how late you can have your party.

Oh btw, check out Casa Rio De Colores.  It's right on the river, and the grounds are amazing.  The pictures on the site definitely don't do it justice.  They supply floaties, tubes, places to grilll, a huge kitchen and a really amazing outdoor patio (covered). They have a stage too if you want band to play at your wedding.   The sites also offers lodgng for about 20 people.  The people who own Lucy in Disguise own this venue so it has the same kitchy, Austin-y feel.  I think it's 750 to rent out for the whole weekend.  I'm not completely sure on this fee but I know it's pretty inexpensive to rent out!
