Wedding cake topper disaster

Hello, knotties of Austin!

I was curious to know if anyone could help me out. I ordered a custom cake topper from etsy.com. The artist made two attempts and it is NOT what I had in mind. (This is much longer post if I included that detail.) Anyhow, FI and I have abandoned that idea and are looking into a lower cost option as a result of paying for the custon work that we cannot/will not use. I saw these really cute S&P shakers and wanted to know if someone else would be doing something similar so we could share the cost. I still have some time to look into opts, but I was just curious to see what people suggested. (Also, it is mind-boggling to see that shipping costs more than the item!)

TIA!

I ordered a custom topper on etsy for FI's grooms cake as well. Would you mind PM'ing me the seller's name so I can make sure its not the one we are also using?

    Sarah,

I really don't think you will have an issue like mine. We were looking for something very untraditional and it was completely new concept for the artist too. (We just liked that he worked with the medium we chose.) I woiuld suggest that you [or any other bride looking around to] really make sure the artist completely understands your idea and that it is doable with the materials they have access to. Also, make sure to work out a payment plan before you have them start. (Our artist did not require payment for the custom purchase, so now I am finding it a bit awkward to pay the full amount when I don't want the item but want to help compensate him for his time.)

    Happy planning!
