Favors

I still have absolutely no clue what we are going to do for favors. What are y'all doing?

Giving candles (cake shaped) in lilttle personalized gift boxes to guests. Will put those at the table around the centerpiece. From this site:

    Bought 100 for .97 each.

In my family and FI's typical favors aren't really done. We are having a pretty big candy buffet as sort of a "favor" because obviously guests can fill up their bag and take it with them. We entertained a few ideas but realized we were only putting time in to thinking about a favor because it's what most wedding books say you should do... and that just isn't us.

For the record, I think most personalized things are a waste... except cups and koozies if that's your style (everyone loves those!). Other than that, no one really wants something with your name on it.  Edible favors are always a hit. I think a donation in someone's name is a nice (new-age-esque) gesture.

Yeah, I'm definitely considering something edible... I just don't know what to do yet.

We're doing koozies since FI is obsessed with doing them, but I love when people do something edible like jams, salsa, bbq sauce, candy bar, etc.

DH is half-Italian, so I used the Italian custom of putting 5 Jordan almonds in a shimmering organza bag with drawstrings that I ordered online from a company in Vancouver.  The 5 almonds symbolize good luck.

Ironically, on my honeymoon, we were walking down a street in Vancouver, when I came upon the gift shop that I had ordered the bags from.  We bought a silver frame from them for one of our wedding photos.  Vancouver was awesome.

We are having a photobooth at our wedding so everyone will get to keep a copy of the photos for them and then one copy goes in a book where they can sign next to it. It's a 2 for 1 kind of deal which I liked since I was also kind of stumped on favors.

We are also doing a photo booth as a keepsake for us and for our guests.

I wanted to skip favors because I think they're a waste of money (unless they are edible).  FMIL felt differently, so we're having lilttle picture frames.  Whatevs.

We're doing CDs with our favorite local Austin musicians. We had them made on etsy for about $2.00/ea. They did an awesome job with everything.  It's a personalized case (pocket/wrap around type) with the songs/artists, a cool design with our theme (birds), and a thank you note, and our names on the spine.  The actual CD has some pictures on it with our names, and all the music was uploaded on each CD.   I know we could have done them for less on our own, but they did such a good job and we saved a ton of time, therefore, it was well worth the money.
ALSO, you really can't go wrong with koozies.  I have at least 12 from friend's weddings in my lake bag and I love each/every one of them!

We're skipping favors and having an after-party for our die hard partiers.  Lol.  The Highball has a great bottle service deal.  I'm looking forward to it!

Also skipping favors - The owner of Kindred Oaks started a charity program, where brides give to charity rather than by favors. She started this because as a venue owner she collects hundreds of dollars worth of favors not taken by the guests. For those that are interested he is the story:

We are getting seeds from the wildseed farm near Fredricksburg.  Packets or ordering a large amount where guests can fill their own bag with seeds.
