Budget Austin Wedding

Is is possible to get married in the Hill Country with a 10K budget?  I would love the fall time and want outdoors but everything that I have seen is pricey!

Any ideas are welcome!

Yes it is possible. Fi and I are doing it. We are also planning the wedding from Houston. The Budget Board has some great ideas and can be very helpful. Also the DIY board is great too.

Chateau on the Creek, Kindred Oaks, McMurtrie Farms and Angel Springs are what I know off top of my head. There are so many fantastic places in the Austin area to get married.

There is the normal have your wedding any day but a Saturday. Prioritize. What is the most important part of the wedding and reception to you and your Fiance? Is it flowers, cake, photographer and get away car? Food, Drinks and Photographer or some other combination?

I just got married on May 29 and our budget was $10K. We went over budget a tiny bit but that was only because we ended up having more guests than expected, which multiplies things. Had we been more strict on the guest list, $10K would've been easily doable.

Yea I think its definetly possible. We have a 15k budget but we have splurged on some major things (cakes, catering, etc.). If you want the hill country check out The Terrace Club and Memory Lane in Dripping Springs. I'm going to a wedding this Thursday at memory lane.

Try Texas Old Town(TOT) in Kyle Texas. There is also Boulder Springs in New Braunfels off of highway 46 next to the Dry Comal Creek Winery. Both are Beautiful venues with gorgeous indoor/outdoor options. Hope this helps.

We did our total wedding for $7500 (rings, dress, wedding night hotels, everything!). I agree with PP - it's all about prioritizing. I wasn't fussy about paper products, so we skipped programs and menus. But the dress was my splurge (and even still, I got it 80 percent off). Shop around, don't be afraid to ask for discounts/deals/price matching. There's a ton you can DIY if you're not afraid of a little elbow grease. I did my own invites, flowers, favors, decorations (I was sewing table runners the night before - plan better than I did). It can be done - good luck!

Definitely!  We saved a ton by DIY the invites and some of the decor, as well as  having the ceremony /reception in the same place.  I also rented my wedding gown from Classy Concepts in RR for a fraction of the price.  (You can elect to purchase the gown if you end up liking it that much).  The best cost savng measure was from bartering with our vendors.  My fiance exchanged web design services for the cake, photography, florist and DJ.  If you have a specialized skill, just ask if they want to make an exchange.  :-)

We are working on a $10k budget (does not include HM though).

We just booked our date at the Winfield Inn in Kyle. If you are looking for Fall/Spring I would recommend it but with the outdoor ballroom I would steer clear of the really hot/cold months.

They are making things so much easier for us and since we selected a Sunday date we are getting rentals, facility, food, parking attendant, bartender coordinator and the entire house for around $5500 leaving plenty for the DIY stuff I will do.

Also just today on craigslist I found a GREAT deal on a photographer if booked before Aug 1 so we are thinking of setting up a meeting soon. Here is the Ad:

Again you just need to make a list of priorities. We want the best photographer we can get but on a VERY tiny budget as our splurges are food and venue. We will not even have flowers since I am DIY-ing a feather theme and will also do a cupcake tree instead of cake.

    Good luck!
