Day of Coordinators

Hi Everyone,

I have spoke with several day of coodinators and they all want to charge me more than $1K.  I do know that wedding budgets tend to be from $10K to $20+ so what's 1K more on a person ensuring the day goes fine?
Unfortunatly I'm paying for it out my pocket and I want a professional do to it so I feel more at ease, but I don't have a grand to just throw away.

Does anyone know a reputable day of coordinator I could interview or have any suggestions?

Thank you in advance :)

Ouch.  I was about to start looking at DOC's also.  I understand wanting things to go smoothly, but that is steep.  Perhaps you could look on craigslist?

back in my knot days, a few of the girls teamed up and 'coordinated' each others weddings for trade.  it basically just entailed decorations for the reception, making sure programs were ready to be handed out, probably told the bridal party when to go down the aisle, and had phone numbers to call in case something didn't show up.  i don't think it included anything else a coordinator usually does (confirm with all vendors, run the reception timeline, take care of gifts afterwards, box up the leftover cake, etc), but it might be a good option for some of y'all!

PS - I loved my coordinator (Resha @ 36th Street Weddings) and my hubby, who was very against it at the beginning leaned over to me only 15 minutes into the reception and said it was the best money we spent.  She's moved now but works with Jessica @ Something to Celebrate

i met with Rachel Stepanov with Buon Affare Events and she was less than $1K for the day of coordinating (help with selecting vendors, etc was extra).  i didn't end up hiring her, but she seemed really professional, personable and on top of things.

I'm not sure if her pricing has changed, but Becky Sosa with Stress Free Events was less that $1K when I hired her, but that was awhile ago. She's been great so far and was recommended to me on this board!

We are using Heather at Hill County Event Planning and she is much less than $1K. We didn't book her until 2 weeks ago because I kept thinking I didn't one, but the more I started mapping out my day of timeline I realized I REALLY did need someone!

Rachel with Buon Affare is my new favorite person.  I really didn't think I could afford a day of coordinator especially when I priced everyone.  I'm paying $540 to have her do 8 hours the day of plus run the rehearsal.  She's been really great about checking in with me along the way too.  PM me if you have any questions!

I spoke with Rachel at Buon Affare and Becky at Stress Free Events and they were both around $500 - $600 for day of coordination (with discounts, tell Becky you were referred from the Knot).   We ended up going with Becky for various reaons, but I would have been comfortable with either one.

Rachel was my DOC and she made the day flow smoothly.  I didn't have to think about anything during my wedding so that I was able to enjoy myself (and so did the groom).   I highly recommend having a DOC and hiring Rachel.

I also used Rachel as my DOC, and she was awesome.  Everything was so smooth.  When DF forgot something at home, one of her assistants ran to our house to get it.  When our transportation didn't show up to take us from the chapel to the reception, her assistant took is (in a nice, clean SUV with leather seats no less).  She also gives discounts for booking quickly and paying all upfront.

I'm using Crystal of Crystal Occassions. She's been great so far and well under $500.

All these prices you guys are sharing sound way to steep for a bride who has a $6,000 budget! I really didn't think a day of coordinator was necessary but after hearing horrible traumatic stories from other knot girls on here, I knew I didn't want to forever remember the chaos that would have been created if I had not hired Christina of Me So Hungry Catering & Events.

She owns a catering business in downtown Austin, but by day she is helping other brides like myself plan their dream wedding. I have spoke to her references by phone and looked into her design background which appealed to me even more being that she has a creative eye for color and was able to move accessories and my table top centerpieces around to display a more romantic look. I was really impressed by her communicational skills and how she really fought to find me the best deals.

I am so excited about my wedding which is only in 2 short months and since working with her have really felt the piece of mind and relaxation she promised me. Definitely give a a call and set up a free consultation. Her fee was $250 for the entire day of the wedding, decoration and theme consulting, and doing a run through or all the specific details. I've never worked with anyone else being that this is my first wedding but hear most planners charge $100 an hour!
