lets get married 11/11/11

So long story short, D and I are talking and he says lets get married11/11/11 and i say you realise thats only 7mos away... and he says ok...... well i still have to talk to your mom and then all will be good, right?

We live in AZ i grew up in TX (Dallas) and we want to have our event in Austin (where most of my family is)
We have a guest list of out of towners (his imediate family) of o120 how do you send a save the date that says pre RSVP is welcome in order to block hotel space and properly pick reception venue????

I am so lost

I thought I would have more time.

If you have a tentative guest list of 120 I would probably go ahead and pick a reception venue that can hold at least that number now.  A lot of popular venues here can book very quickly, especially if you have a trendy date.  The hotel block can wait, but I'd start looking into venues as soon as possible.

As far as getting a rough idea on numbers I would spread the word about the date by word of mouth and see who could come.  I'm sure that your FI's family can help you with his side.  Also I know that when we sent our save the dates, people tended to let us know one way or the other, even without an RSVP.

    Congratulations and good luck!

Thank you! that was my general thought as well, however I have found a venue that will indeed hold all of us and has lodging as well but it will eat up 3500 of our 10000 budget... and thats fine as long as we need that large of a venue... I am terrified of booking and commiting to a large venue and than not needing it, wasting space and most of all hard worked for budget.

Also the 120 tentative is just his family. My portion of the guest list including friends and family is just under 75.

We had a pre-rsvp set up on our wedding website. It worked out pretty well, because all the out of towners replied. Find a hotel that doesn't make you pay for the unused blocks in the rooms. There are plenty that will do it.
