My dad was in College Station one weekend (from Lousiana) so we met him halfway, in Giddings, for breakfast at a tiny little diner. It was raining the whole way there and the whole way back.
When I pulled into our parking lot (driving FI's car) he just straight up asked me:

So, Do you want to get married
    Me: Uh, yeah
    Him: When?
    Me: umm... whenever?
    long pause
Me: Are you serious?? Where's my ring?

Then he pulled the ring out of the console of the car. It had been under my arm the whole drive. He had been waiting for me to go to the restroom at the diner so he could ask my dad, since my dad hadn't answered his phone for 3 days everytime he tried to call. I didn't end up going to the restroom, so he didn't end up asking my dad beforehand.
Immediately after I put the ring on, I made him call my dad from my phone so he would pick up, and he asked his permission. Of course my dad was so excited for us!

So that's it. On a rainy Saturday morning in the front seat of his car, and I thought he was joking.

I didn't know until the next day that my best friend got engaged that night. So I got engaged for the 1st time about 8 hours before she got engaged for the second time (she is a widower). She was very gracious and let me get married first, or so we tell each other.

Mine is not exactly romantic but it special to me. Me and my FI were sitting on the couch and I was watching him play XBOX and his game was over and he pulls the box with the ring out from under his leg and turns to me and asks me if I would marry him. Ofcourse I said yes. And then ofcourse we start calling everybody!!!!

It was Valentines Day and we started off the day by going out to breakfast. Just after we ordered he excused himself to the bathroom. When he came back from the "bathroom" he was carring flowers, balloons, and chocolates. He then gave them all to me dropped down on one knee in the middle of the restaurant and proceeded to read me a poem he had wrote asking me to marry him. Then out came the ring. How could you EVER turn down something so sweet!!! He told me he knew the second he saw me that I was the woman he would marry.

We were at Disneyland, the day after Texas lost in the BCS National Championship game.  He was acting really weird, but I thought he was just disappointed about the game.  We have been together for five years, so you would think I would have been expecting it, but I totally thought it was just a day at Disneyland and didn't even get what was going on as he started to propose so he had to chase me down to get me to stand still long enough to hear the proposal!

My FI waited until I was out of town on a business trip to ride his motorcycle (in the cold) to ask my Dad if he could ask me to marry him. Not only that, he followed through with what had been a long running family joke that after he asked my Dad he had to face my Grandmother. My Mom happened to be at my Grandma's that night, so he faced them together.

While we were visiting his family, he went out to run "errands" with his mother. I didn't think anything about it because it wasn't out of the ordinary for him to do so. Little did I know, that they had gone to the jeweler that his family uses to pick out my engagement ring! They said they looked at just about every ring before the person at the store decided they'd have to design something especially for me to make my FI happy. They were able to take the things he liked from a couple of rings and combine them into one. Once he had the ring, he had to set the stage for the proposal.

On Thanksgiving, my FIs parents invited us to the big Texas A&M vs. TU game in College Station. Being the big aggie fans that we are, we jumped on the opportunity. Before the game we went to the tailgate for the Texas A&M Kick-Off Team Foundation. His Mom slyly asked me to get my picture taken with the members of the Foundation & after some convincing, I agreed. While standing there waiting for the picture to be taken, my FI walks up and asked for everyone's attention. I don't like getting my picture taken, nor did I like a whole crowd of people staring at me, but it was almost like time stood still. I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, or be sick! My FI said some of the sweetest & most romantic things and then he pulled out the ring. I don't know that I ever verbally said yes, but he put the ring on my finger & it was sealed with a great big hug and a kiss. And everyone clapping & congratulating us!

My FI and I will be celebrating our 7 year anniversary in March the weekend before our wedding. After just a few months of dating, I must have thought he was the one because I totally blurted out 'I Love You' one morning when we were leaving for work. Before then, I had never been the first one to share those words and that morning, they just came out.

Then a couple of years ago, we were in a pretty bad car accident. The ambulance came & the firemen had to pry the door open to get my FI out of the car. They put us in the same ambulance and we rode to the emergency room holding hands. Once at the hospital, they put him in the cardiac arrest unit & me in a room on the opposite end of the ER. They kept telling me he was fine, but for some reason I knew better. The longer I laid there without seeing him the more scared I became. Finally, after several hours & several tests, he came into the room and I cannot explain the rush of emotions I had inside just seeing him (and the staff trailing after him trying to get him to lay back down). Luckily we were both fine, just pretty beaten up, but I knew then and there that he was the man I was destined to spend the rest of my life with.

Blue- Only my 2 sisters and my FI's best friend are in our WP. HOwever my friend asked me the other day to be her BM. I am a replacement, but I love her anyway. I wasn't in her first wedding because she has 2 sisters and her late H had 2, so she didn't have any friends in her WP. I really didn't expect her to ask me, but I'm happy to be there for her.

On Oct 1st, we were both about to go play kickballI one night.  Without sharing too much info, lets just say, I was definitely not looking cute.  Rick was acting all weird when he got home from work and asked if I wanted a glass of wine before kickball... this gave it away that he was up to SOMETHING.  But he had been traveling for weeks at a time and I thought for sure he was preparing me for another long trip away, so I was preparing myself for bad news (he knows wine always helps the bad news go down).    Anyway, he started saying something really sweet (I still had no clue), and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.  I covered my face with a couch pillow and asked him if he was kidding about 10 times and then told him that it wasn't funny at all if this was a joke.  He finally said that if I would look at him, I would know by him holding a ring out, that he wasn't kidding.

My favorite part though is that he had the ring since July.  I still can't believe he was able to keep it secret that long. He insisted on talking to my dad in person... and there were several things that made it impossible for him to do that.  He lives in a small town in AZ, about 1.5 hours from any airport and he had never been there before.  When he had a work visit in CA, he took one night to fly to AZ and then drive to take my Dad to dinner to ask for his blessing.  I thought that was soooo sweet that he went to that much trouble.  The worst part?  Is actually kind of funny, b/c it's so my Dad... but my dad told him he would give his blessing only after I said yes.  : )  He said he raised his daughter to make good decisions for herself and that she didn't need his permission.  (what a pain in the butt he is, but I love him just the same)

Awww.... I missed this one on Tues and I am all teary eyed now.

    Our Story:
We met 3 yrs ago this August, it was truly love at first sight. of course when that happens its really not as romantic as it sounds... you spend the 1st few minutes trying to figure out if that feeling is just fear or what... either way you find your life on hold in a split second caught up in a stranger's eyes.

After the 1st year of rooming with my cousin and a very absentee guy friend, we got our own place and got settled in. It was starting our 2nd year together that we both began working 2 jobs 7 days a week to help save up for getting engaged. So I knew it was coming.....
Nearing our 2nd anniversary I had started to do the math in my head and was thinking it should be close. In the weeks approaching our 2nd he sent a mailed letter to my aunt and uncle in CO to ask for their blessing (i lived with them for about 2 yrs as a kid). He was so nervous he forgot to put their street address!!! Amazingly they live in such a remote area the postman knew the only Bob and Wendy in the town and the letter was still delivered. They called him the day before crying so happy for us. On the day of my other dad-like-uncle Curtis returned his call and he asked for his blessing and everyone cried etc etc.... With everything falling together so well, lastly he called my mom (last because she couldnt keep a secret!) With her blessing in hand he finally felt ready.
It was pure coincidence that it fell together on our anniversary and with the un-addressed letter making it to my aunt and uncle he felt it was a "sign". That night after spaghetti and wine we moved to the couch to watch TV. With a towel on my head from my shower, sitting in a terrycloth robe, he pulled the ring out and while kissing me he asked if i meant it when I said I would love him forever. Without even seeing the ring I suddenly shot into a minipanic asking myself "is he about to propose? No he isnt. Why would I ask myself this? I never have thought it was happening before, despite knowing it was coming....." And then I opened my eyes to see the box. I WAS RIGHT! I had read his mind with my eyes closed! I said yes and sat in shock for a few minutes before the tears came and the calls were made.
Funny though. When we called his grandad to tell him he seemed kinda weird about it but said congrats and said goodbye quickly. Coincidentally his aunt was with him because when we called her she was so happy and few min later his grandad called back and said "Did you say you were getting married or having a baby?" He had thought we told him we were pregnant! So that explained his unenthusiastic reaction lol. Boy was he relieved.....
And here we are nearing our 3rd anniversary August 19th! Laughing
