Venue Opinions, Please?

Hi knotties! I'm planning from afar, and I'm going to have a limited time in Austin over the holidays to look at a few venues. To help me focus my time while I'm here, I would appreciate any feedback y'all could offer on the following venues:

Mansion at Judges' Hill
Old Pecan St. Cafe
Shoreline Grill
One World Theater
Bob Bullock Museum (and their caterer: Catering by Rosemary)

Thanks so much!

The Mansion at Judges' Hill is beautiful! I would just double check their advertised room capacity with past brides, because I've heard that if you fill the room to what they say is capacity, it can get pretty crowded.

I have mixed feelings about One World Theatre... it's always seemed kinda dark inside, and putting a tent up outside messes with the aesthetics a bit... but I just don't like tents in general. However, I know there have been several brides on this board who've gotten married there and loved it, so maybe it's just not my style. If you really like it, it's probably worth a look.

I've always thought it would be cool to have a wedding at the Bob Bullock Museum, but I've never actually been to one there.

The company my dad works for has their Christmas party at the UT Etter-Harbin Alumni Center every year, and Catering by Rosemary is the exclusive caterer there as well. The food I've had has always been delicious, and my mom LOVES it. She was disappointed because the company decided to have a dessert only party this year.

Hope this helps you! Good luck!

I am having my wedding at the UT Alumni Center this Saturday, so I can't yet tell you about my wedding experience with Catering by Rosemary's food, but in the past events I've been to at the Alumni Center the food has always been wonderful.

They've been easy to work with too. The only issue was that the person I had been working with for months got promoted and now another person got assigned to my event. But except for a few things I had to remind them of, it has been fine.

I'd watch out for the Mansion at Judge's Hill.  I haven't been to any weddings there, but I had a completely subpar experience as a guest at the inn earlier this year - in a suite, no less.  Check the reviews on Yelp.com, as well.  I just read one from a woman who threw a baby shower (or something similar) there and had several problems.

    Good luck!

Mansion at Judges' Hill - We liked this place, but the date didn't work out for us, but they were very helpful.  Also had a close friend get married here and they had a great experience with them.  I think they had ~125 people.

Old Pecan St. Cafe -  LOVE the atmoshere and the prices were more than reasonable.  We didn't book this because we wanted the ceremony and reception at the same location.

Shoreline Grill - Been a bridesmaid in a wedding here.  The bride was very happy and the food being amazing (sit down dinner).  One of our top two options, but again, didn't go with them because there was no decent plan B for the ceremony.  They can't do tents and the room, although great for dinner/dancing, I just couldn't see myself getting married there inside.   ALSO, there has been a recent turnover in the staff, the lady who had been there forever left and the new person, Amber, was all about making the promises that she wasn't sure she could keep.... she did not leave me with a good feeling at all.  That said, maybe with some experiece under her belt she'd get better at stating the facts and not just what we wanted to hear.

One World Theater - they never responded to me...?

Have you looked at Mercury Hall?  That's what we decided on and so far, we couldn't be happier.
    GOOD LUCK!
