Who did your alterations?

My dress came in today, and the salon where I bought it (Belle Saison) does not do in house alterations. They gave me a couple names of people they like for alterations, but that's about it.

Who did you use? Were you happy with them? My dress has a lot of beadwork/lace... so I need someone who will be able to work with that well. It needs to be taken in SEVERAL inches in the bust and hips, so I need someone who really knows what they are doing.

Affordable is a must as well.  I've heard that Alexia Gavela does a really good job on alterations, is this true?

Thanks, ladies!

My dress was made out of lace and it was altered beautifully by Alexia Gavela. They hemmed it, added capped sleaves and did a 5 (I think) point bustle for $200. Hope that helps.

I second  Alexia Gavela! I went for my first fitting yesterday and they are great to work with. Also, they can store you dress if that is something you might need.

Elizabeth Triana with Triana Tailors made my dress fit like a dream.  She has an eye for detail--anything that wasn't laying right or wasn't perfect, she fixed.  I had the whole bodice taken in, the waist and attached sash taken in, and a small, 1 point bustle for $180.  She's very experienced with wedding dresses, and turned my co-worker's too big sample-sale Monique Lullieher (sp?) lace gown into something amazing.  She always has tons of beautiful gowns in her shop, so lots of local brides trust her with their dresses.

i got quotes from both alexia gavela and triana tailors - while both were uber nice and seemed very experienced, alexia gavela was $120 cheaper.  my dress is almost entirely lace, with some beading and needed to be hemmed, taken in bust/hips and have cups and a bustle added.
