Ladies who applied for their marriage license in Travis County: I have a question.

Ladies who got married in Travis County and filed for your license there-

Did you have to sign your own license at the wedding, and did you need witnesses? See, H and I live in Harris County, but got married in Travis County. We had the option of filing in either county, and we applied and filed it through Harris because we couldn't get to Travis to apply.

At the wedding, we were surprised to learn that we didn't need to sign it, nor did we need two witnesses to sign it either (only the officiant needed to sign it). Is this also the case for Travis licenses?

I'm just curious. Thanks!

Nope, you don't have to sign it or have any witnesses . . . I thought it was strange too. I don't know if its a Travis county thing or if that's just something we all think becase of the movies.

<div>We signed ours at the courthouse when wer applied, but I didn't remember that. The witnesses were optional, but I didn't know that either. Our whole honeymoon I worried that we didn't sign it and it wasn't official. I didn't see our witnesses sign either, so I was really worried, as they live out of state. However, the day after we got home, our official certificate was in our mailbox. </div>
