HELP! Hoping to plan October 2010 wedding...

My sis-in-law is hoping to get married this October 9th or 10th.  I realize this is quick and haven't found anything available yet.  The reception is the most important to them and they plan to have 350 guest and have dancing/dessert.  Does anyone have any affordable suggestions of place to check out?

You can totally do this. I got engaged in August 2009 and married in October 2009 and still had everything I wanted. It can actually work in your favor - may vendors will offer "last minute discounts."

I think you'll definitely have much more luck getting Oct. 9, than the 10th. Try Texas Old Town, Mercury Hall, Star Hill Ranch. Ask them if they're willing to give any discounts. You may be surprised - it doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck!

Try Lost Pines Resort.  They have some really large beautiful spaces.  Good Luck!

october is apparently the most popular month to get married in austin.  keep in mind that october 8-10 is during ACL weekend, so it might be a bit difficult for the out of town guests (hotel rooms).  i was also told by somebody in the wedding industry that lots of brides-to-be were very excited about the "10/10/10" date..  doesn't mean it can't be done though =)  especially if you're willing to have the reception on a friday or sunday or during the day.  good luck!!

This is totally doable! I am getting married on 10.10. I did not start selecting my venue until February this year and by the time I found the venue, it was already booked (8 months out). There are lots of other gorgeous venues. Also as the PP stated, it is ACL weekend. Most of my guests that are flying can't get a return fly out of austin until Tues 10.12 so beware of all the airport traffic.

Try Phillips event center, they are running a tone of great discounts on all stuff for the wedding-food dj cakes. They can hold a lot of people.

I think the hardest part will be finding a venue open... 10.10.10 is a very popular date!
