Austin Mansions

Hey Austinite Brides,
I'm actually in San antonio but feel like I may have exhausted all ceremony/reception options here. So now me and my FI are considering looking at Austin and Houston.  I would really like to get married in a beautiful church.  For the reception we would like to maybe rent out a mansion that has a beautiful view. I know it's a very specific description but it's what we are looking for!  However, I am not as familiar with Austin wedding sites. Any places ya'll suggest for what we are looking for? Thanks!

If you're Protestant, try Smith Chapel at Riverbend or St. Martin's Lutheran Church.

If you're Catholic, try St. Austin's, St. Mary's, or Emmaus.

Mansions with a view... try Villa Antonia or Austin 71.

Hope this helps you! Good luck! :)

For mansions you can also check the Allan House and Wolf Mansion.

St. Mary's Cathedral is gorgeous! But since it is the bishop's church, they have very strict requirements. We couldn't get married there because our wedding is during Advent. If you are Catholic, look into it though. I'm not sure about the requirements anymore since they're getting a new bishop.

I'm getting married at St. Austin's. I love it, but it feels austere so it's probably not what you're looking for.

Villa Antonia has an AMAZING view, and I was thisclose to booking it myself. But, the parking and dirt road is terrible, and the owner was a little too intense for me. But AMAZING view!

Allan House was my 2nd choice. Great downtown venue!

Also, don't forget about Green Pastures.  It's in south Austin, and while it doesn't necessarily have a "view", it surrounded by a couple acres of immaculate lawns and gardens and huge oak trees and has peacocks hanging around.  Plus, it's close to downtown so its easy to get to.

check out Barr Mansion (http://www.barrmansion.com/). it's absolutely gorgeous and is on a big piece of land. not sure of the views but other mansions in town: The Mansion (Texas Federation of Women's Club Mansion: http://themansion.info/), Chateau Bellevue (http://www.chateaubellevueaustin.org/), Caswell House (http://www.austinjuniorforum.org/caswell-home.html), French Legation Museum (http://www.frenchlegationmuseum.org/) and Neill-Cochran House Museum (http://www.nchmuseum.org/). We're getting married at All Saints Episcopal. It's a gorgeous church.

Just wanted to second the recommendation for Austin 71. It is a beautiful, fancy newish house on a hillside with a view over the Hill Country.

Wanted to second the Caswell House.  It has a great view of the Capitol from the second floor balcony.

Their rates are also quite reasonable.

Most beautiful mansion I've seen, also with the best food...Green Pastures in south austin.  Went to a beautiful wedding there.  And the reception would actually be inside the mansion, with windows and a large sunroom.

I love Barr Mansion...it's what I'm most likely going with, but the reception isn't actually in the mansion.  The mansion's sole purpose is for the bridal party to dress.  The reception is in a ballroom that's in the shape of a barn with a wall of windows.  Very pretty but doesn't sound like what you're looking for.
