Usher?...must-have?

My fiance and I are having a smaller wedding 70-80 guests. We are making it more of a family involved ceremony. My bridesmaid are all in my family as well as his groomsmen are all his friends he's know for 8 years+. Since its going to be pretty small and everyone pretty much knows everyone, and since his mother and my grandmother (who raised me) are both bridesmaids, is it necessary to have ushers? i need your opinion! TIA!!!

  • Nope no need for ushers if you don't want them. Some people ask groomsmen to also do usher duty and escort guests to their seats. Others let guests fend for themselves since most adults are perfectly capable of finding a seat without an usher. Either is completely fine and up to you.

  • Definitely not. We had one only b/c at our original venue, we were going to need one, but then we changed venues but were not about to "un"ask him. I'm pretty sure he just stood around near the top of the aisle and probably hated every second of it.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Ushers are not necessary at all.  We just had our GMs usher in our parents and grandparents.
  • No, groomsmen or others can act as ushers.
