My venue includes cake cutting in their price. Maybe ask yours & see if they have someone who can do it for free or cheap.

Most venues include the cake cutting service. If not, if you're working with a wedding planner, they can provide this service.

It's not usually the bakery that takes care of this, but caterers often try to add a fee for doing this.  My planner includes the cutting, so I told my caterer to take that $50 fee right back off my bill.

my venue will do it but then my caterer also offered to do it and its included in both of their prices so i am just getting the caterer to do it since the venue will proably have other stuff to do.

I've been to a bajillion weddings and never once noticed who cut the cake. I'm super detail oriented and a "I want everything to be perfect" kind of bride, but this is one thing I am not worried about. I cannot imagine paying someone a fee to cut a cake, and some fees I've seen (upwards of $3 a SLICE) are laughable. This is all certainly just MY OPINION.

That being said, there obviously needs to be someone designated to cut the cake whether it be "hired help" or not.

I'm a little confused by your post though. Have you not already chosen a cake baker, and you're trying to find someone to bake your cake that will cut it for free at the wedding? I've never seen an actual cake baker stick around the wedding to cut the cake...? Usually they drop the cake off and set it up and then leave. As previous posters said, often times the caterer or venue can include cake cutting as part of their fee.  FI's aunt will cut the cake at our wedding.

When FI and I were looking for caters we came across Courtney's Catering and they were the only one who offered to cut the cake for free. Also, it's not necessary to hire a person to cut it but the bakers do warn a family member or friend may cut slices larger than what the baker had planned (In other words, less cake to go around). HTH!

If you have a wedding planner they will do it and so will your caterer or the venue.  Quite often it is included for one of these services.  It is at least negotiable.
