Is picking your colors the hardest thing or what?

If someone told me to pick my favorite color... I don't have one!  How do you do it?I think gray and pink is pretty, brown and teal looks nice, light green and violet can make a nice combo. My groom will have graduated from West Point and we have not decided on Army dress uniform - but I guess we could do Navy blue and yellow.

Heck - what are your colors ladies and how did you decide? I need to order invitations and NEED to make this decision.

it took us a REALLY long time (especially since we were originally getting marreid in May and had some rustic colors picked out and then moved the date and location of our wedding to a much more modern location) and we just made a decision to mostly do white, black and gray and then a few accent colors of shades of orange and blue (the color will mostly appear in the lighting we are doing). my fiance really wanted orange and i wanted blue so it worked out!

you might just go to home depot or lowe's and look at the paint color cards and pull some colors out and see what you like. good luck!

I think what's difficult varies from bride to bride.

My color was plum. It got picked because I found bridesmaids dresses in plum on super clearance that another bride had returned in the fabric (satin) and style (long, a-line) I wanted. That's all. Plum and Ivory, colors picked.

On the other hand... I thought we were going to need a diplomatic negotiating team to pick a date. My sister got married in the same summer, my other sister had to fly into Texas with her kids, but her husband is in school so we couldn't do a fall wedding instead, our pastor was booked nearly every other weekend, my stepmom was in training for a new job, my brother in law was going out of the country on a missionary trip, the in-laws didn't want to do a Sunday wedding instead of Saturday..... We ended up with only two possible dates for the whole of 2009, and one of those was my friend's anniversary, so we picked the other. Thank goodness it worked out.

If you want a stranger's opinion, it sounds to me like major colors of teal and navy blue, with some gold accents might be the best way to go for your wedding.

Ask your bridesmaids what colors they like....it will help you decide!  I would figure out if you are going to have Army dress also, that will play a major role it the whole look of the wedding!

My fiance and I went to a craft store and spend 45 minutes in the ribbon isle, walking back and forth to the flowers, to pick our colors!  Then we googled flowers that we like the look of from various bouqeuts on the knot until we found flowers that work well with our colors - which btw are Bright Robins Egg blue, a lighter maroon and an oyster ivory and our wedding in November...the bright blue isn't really a fallish color but is makes us both happy and will really pop at our wedding!  The blue and maroon are the main colors and the oyster is our accent....

    Good luck!

I looked through a bunch of wedding photos on the Knot and stylemepretty.com for inspiration before I booked anything. I wanted everything to tie in together- location, date, colors, theme, etc.  Then, after deciding I liked a more rustic look, falling in love with a venue, and setting the date for May 29 we decided on a color scheme. (We are doing greens, cream and there will be touches of light yellow. I was inspired by lemons, limes and hydrangeas. Pictures in my bio.)

Also, FI is also in the Army and though he was planning to wear his dress blues it never played in to picking colors or any part of the wedding. I have seen many military weddings done both ways- colors that tie in to the military uniform, and those that didn't match the uniform. I personally did not like the way things looked when everything was matching to the uniform. Everyone has their own personal style, but the bold blues and golds just didn't go with my vision of a wedding.

(He actually just decided yesterday not to wear his uniform because it does not fit and we are just about 100 days out from the wedding. He is getting out of the Army in August so he doesn't want to buy another uniform, but would rather put the money in to a suit that he can use post-military.)

I searched wedding pictures until I found a scheme I liked.  Good luck because I continually doubt myself even after I've already bought stuff.

I'm also in the process of selecting my colors and it's taking me awhile. I found a cool tool on David's Bridal site where it allows you to 'Dress Your wedding'. It will display different backgrounds (venue), then you can select the type of dresses, colors and style for your entire bridal party. I also went and bought different color swatches from Hobby Lobby. Good luck!

We are using plum, green and ivory. I think that any dress uniform will go with any color scheme, so don't necessarily let that dictate your colors.

hey, i also just found this online: http://kuler.adobe.com/ and it's pretty cool. if you click on "Create" on the top left, you can go in and put together five different colors, or see what others have created. I clicked on "Create" and then clicked on "Custom" under "Select a Rule" to be able to choose the four or five colors I wanted. could be a fun tool to play aorund with!

I just picked my colors this week. We went to David's bridal and found the bridesmaid dresses and chose the colors Lapis (dark purple) and Kelly Green. Our wedding is in November so not sure if the colors are really "fall" colors. I am planning on having orange flowers so I think it will tie in nicely.

yes! picking my colors was the hardest thing other than looking for a dress lol. i originally started with navy blue and silver, then went to a mint green color, then i said teal  or tiffany blue and brown, but the whole time i had purple stuck in the back of my head so i went to micheals to look for something in 'my color' and ended up picking out something blue, but the utlimate decision came when i went to pick out the style of my BM dresses and saw the dark puple dresses! i fell in love with it and stuck to it, so dark, rich, purple and lavender with some silver!!! i love it {not to mention those were my highschool and college colors lol} good luck and i HTH's!!
