The Groom's Cake...

Has anyone ever seen a groom's cake with it's own cake topper? I was just wondering. About a month ago, my wonderful Jeremy asked me if he could have a cake topper for his cake...my response was that there wasn't one traditionally, but if we could find a groom 1st baseman and bride catcher, I'd let him have a topper since we're doing a baseball theme cake for him. Well lo and behold I was looking through the weddingstar.com magazine at Borders yesterday in Tulsa and came across the cake topper for his cake.....Yeah, its not the 1st baseman and catcher I was hoping for, but its way fitting for he and I, especially since I would have preferred to play baseball and not softball when I was able to play. I showed it to my mom and she absolutely loved it and told me to order it ASAP! Plus, the groom's cake, the topper for it, and the garter set (St. Louis Cardinals) all tie in together better than I ever thought!Ok...jumping off my happy soap box...back to your regularly scheduled knotting...lol

Yay for finding this cake topper!!  No, it's not traditional to have one on the groom's cake, but who cares--it's your wedding so do it.  I think one of DH's favorite things about our wedding was his groom's cake (it incorporated his love of guns & hunting), so it's great that you're doing this for Jeremy--he'll love it!!

So, just a little update, I bought the cake topper this morning and it should be to me in a week or two. I also forgot to add to the original post, besides the Cardinals garter set, back right after we got engaged, I found Cardinals cuff links that were on clearance online on the Cardinals MLB shop!! I'm really excited that I found the cake topper and my dad even made a comment that just cracks me up. He said he was going to forward the image to the reverend that's marrying us (the one who baptized me) and was going to tell him to dust off his antique umpire gear for the wedding (its a running joke from when I was like in middle school and from me playing softball).
