Creekside Chapel

Has anyone heard/know anything about Creekside Chapel in Edmond? My FI and I are trying to find wedding and reception locations that aren't too pricey. We're not opposed to having them @ 2 separate locations if we can get a good price. Any ideas or suggestions about locations would be great!!

This is where I got married, if you have any specific questions let me know. A lot of if it's going to be a good location will depend on what kind of wedding you're wanting to have. What are you envisioning? How much are you wanting to spend on both? That could help us give you some ideas.

MelB228-thanks for the reply! I read some reviews online that weren't too great. I know that people always write reviews for the bad stuff and never the good stuff, but I want to find a great place and don't want to be taken advantage of on such an important day. I'm looking at no more than $7,000 on price. Would you mind if I asked you specifics about your wedding?

Check out this website http://home.comcast.net/~oklahomainfobio/index.htmlAlso, check out past posts on the board for vendor reviews and venue suggestions. As far as other locations, a lot of people on here, and my SIL, used Festivities in El Reno. DH and I looked at the Palace Event Center in Yukon. One of my BF's is getting married in March at Tres Suenos vineyard/winery in Luther (if you want an outside wedding it's awesome)I know some people who have used the Greens, but I think someone on here had a bad experience with them. I haven't known anyone else to have bad experiences.I've heard great things about Rocky's in Bricktown for receptions (if I could re-do my wedding I would probably have gone with that place, but I didn't know it existed then). The state capitol is free to use (I would only recommend this for ceremonies as they have restrictions for receptions)Overholster Mansion only charges 500 for weddings. Now for my LONG Creekside review:What did the bad reviews say?The planning stages were wonderful, mainly because I didn't have to do anything. They did all the decorating, they gave you numbers to the vendors that come with the package to set everything up (DJ, cake, minister, bartender), and that part was amazing. The coordinator is very thorough and puts your mind at ease with a ton! Things I didn't like was 11. I wish we had more time at the venue for getting ready. They give you 5 hours, and we paid for an extra hour to make it 6. So, we got there for pics and everything 1.5 hours before, had the ceremony and after pics for an hour, and then about 3 hours for reception and then 1/2 hour for cleanup of presents, dressing rooms, etc, but I really wish that I would have had a place that I could have gotten in a lot earlier to do my hair/makeup/getting ready there instead of at a different place and coming there just to put my dress on and start taking pics.2. If you plan on having a good amount of alcohol at the wedding I would not recommend this location for you. Or, if you have people who like to get loud and a little roudy I wouldn't recommend it. (If you have either of these situations and you want to know more info about what happened to me give me your email addy and I'll let you know.....situations around this kinda ruined my reception for me, but I don't want to go into details on here. It sucks to look back at your wedding and realize you had a horrible time). If you have a calmer crowd I don't think you would have any problems.3. There are limited times for weddings to happen, like for Saturday it was either early (like 1pm) or late (I think the earliest is about 5:30, and it might be 6, I can't remember) because they try to leave it open to book 2 weddings each day. Therefore, if you want a 3 or 4 pm wedding, you can't have it.Overall it was the right choice at the time, as I didn't really know how to go about planning my wedding since my mother & family is all OOT, but looking back I wish I had used a different venue knowing everything about locations and vendors that I know now. And, after the situation at my reception, I would have definitely picked a different location.

We went and looked at it as a possible venue, but I want an outdoor wedding and they no longer do outdoor weddings.  To me, the prettiest part of their whole property is the outside.  We chose Festivities instead.  We are on a smaller budget too, and I like the fact that at Festivities, we just pay for the site and then take care of all of the other details ourselves.  Good luck!

The Capitol is free and gorgeous! That's where our ceremony is, then the Civic Center is our reception site (because the Capitol has lots of stupid rules, but my neighbors married there last month and broke lots of the rules anyway) and it was only about $1800 which was half the price of the others I loved like the museum off shartel. At the Civic Center Hall of Mirrors you can bring in your own alcohol and caterer, too! If you have any other questions about the sites around here I can probably tell you about a lot of them to save your time.
