House hunting (Or condo) in OKC

FI and I are going to be moving to OKC after we are married in May. I'll being going to gradschool at OU and he is working out of Edmond. So we're looking for a nice place to buy a starter house or condo. We were thinking NW Okc, edmond, moore, bethany, or the village. We dont really know the areas too well becuase I'm in stillwater and he is in Enid so any recommendations of good neighborhoods that are safe and nice would be greatly appreciated.. TIA!

We lived in The Village for 5 years, from 2000 to 2005.  It's a great place for a starter home.

Thank you, that's really my number one choice, I've been doing some online house searches and I've found some reasonably priced homes that are in good shape and the neighborhoods seemed pretty nice.

You should post this on TheNest OKC boards, you will get alot more responses. In my opinion Bethany is really far for you to drive to OU. Bethany is on the other side of OKC. I live in Norman and it would take me 45 mins to get to Bethany. I say Moore is a great and fastly growing area, its also between Edmond and Norman so equal drive for both of you. NW OKC I would say no bc it is touchy on what areas are nice or are ghetto. The Village would be nice and upscale. Also, Edmond is great but yet your drive would be long. I really would consider the drive. I mean how long will you be in grad school? The drive to/from Norman can be crazy long because there is always construction on the highway, they keep widening it. What type of commute do you want? I live right next to OU and the drive to Village or Edmond is minimum of 30 mins, without traffic. Also, OU parking is horrible so always allow yourself 10 mins to park and 10mins to walk to your class. I hope that helps!

wow yes it did help, thank you! Ive been totally abusing the news9 crimetracker that they have and any time I find a property I like online I type the address into the crimetracker. So, that's been a little helpful. I'll be getting my phD so I'll be at OU a good 4 years at least the beauty is that FI's company pays his gas so we would only be paying for one commute between the two of us but a shorter commute would be nice..... I'll look into Moore. Thanks again.

There are 2 pretty new neighborhoods in Moore that friends of mine live in.  One is just off SW34th street on the south side of the rd, east of I-35 and the RR tracks, and west of S Eastern Ave.  Its the Kensington housing addition.  I have no idea on house prices, but the houses are nice, and the neighborhood is wonderful.  The other neighborhood is off of NW 12th street, on the S side of the rd, between Western ave and Santa Fe ave.  The street to turn into the neighborhood is Crystal Gardens Place.HTH and GL!

Lmf--Thank you, we're actually thinking about going to Moore this weekened and driving around. 2 of FI's future coworkers live there and they were just telling him last night how much they love living there because its quiet and safe and cheaper than like Edmond. Thank you so much for your help girls! I'm excited to check these places out.
