Metro Area Reception Venues?

Oh ladies... I come to you after filling up my eyeballs with site after site of reception venues. I'm 90% sure I'll be having a church wedding in Edmond, but I want something more relaxed for the reception. So here's where I'm at:
  • I thought about something like Tres Suenos, but I google-maps'd it and it'll be an hour's drive from the ceremony site and I don't know how many people would be willing to travel that far
  • Silo Center would be great, but it's even farther away so not really an option unless I choose a Tulsa church instead
  • I like the idea of the Round Barn but not the idea of no alcohol (haha)
  • Coles Garden is beautiful but seems almost too "perfect" (not too mention expensive and anything with princess in the name makes me cringe :D)
  • I'm down for museums, art galleries, barns, farms, vineyards, gardens, etc. Something kind of unique and hopefully not decorated terribly!
We'll probably have around 100 guests, maybe less... anything come to mind? Any help is much appreciated!

    Here are a few ideas

    Harn Homestead
    Hamilton Event Center in Edmond
    Oklahoma Museum of Art
    Oklahoma City Zoo

    Hope that helps!

Don't know if downtown is too far for you, but we are doing ours at Red Prime.

If you're not opposed to having it on a sunday, youc an do the UCO jazz lab. They let you bring in your OWN bar or whatever else you might want in there.

Could also try the cowboy hall of fame.

Have you considered the Chesapeake Boathouse on the river downtown?  It's BEAUTIFUL for receptions, especially if it's a night.  They have indoor and outdoor facilities.  I've been to a few events there and they've all been really nice!

The Round Barn in Arcadia. It's only 5.5 miles East of I-35, so I think it would still work for you.  It's a fun, unique, and relaxed environment!

Tisha, I ended up not going with the red barn (although I think it's an AWESOME venue).  However, when I was looking at it, I had some quesitons that I couldn't find the answer to, and I thought the information might help some other searching OK brides...
It sounds like the indoor events are held in the loft.  How easy it it to access (I assume there are only stairs?  Would they be hard for older guests to navigate?)  Are you allowed to bring heaters in if it's cold?  (I assume there is no climate control)

Again, I really love the space and I'm excited for you!

Also, look at the Oklahoma History Center...I'm having my entire wedding there, ceremony and reception...I'm doing very little in terms of decor because of the veiw offered, http://www.okhistorycenter.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=16&Itemid=31... What about the Skirvin Hotel? Check out the Jim Thorpe Museum http://www.jimthorpeassoc.org/event%20center/event%20center.htm

On the Round Barn, yes, the loft is where the indoor events are held. The stairs are ok...you just have to be careful coming down but i find the railings to be steady. I'm not sure on the heaters though..I know they have fans in there but it wouldn't hurt to ask about the heating issue.

    HTH!

The Round Barn has heating, and fans, but no A/C.

The people who run the Arcadia tag agency are the ones you call when you have questions.  They are very nice and have always been super helpful.

    I hope this helps.  :-)
