FYI-RP Brides Cookware Presentation

As I posted earlier, I got the call that I "won a free trip" and "$1,000 Grocvery Coupon" from RP Brides, all I needed to do was sit through their cookware show. Well, I just got in from the sales presentation (Stopped to get White Castle on the way home, mmmmmm ....) and I thought I'd update everybody, in case they get a call from them in the future. The presentation ran well over the promised 90 minutes, which, groan, but not as high pressure as I was expecting. The sales guy was entertaining, and they do give you a little sample dish to try. But be prepared to get guilted on "the health of your future children" ... I swear, he basically pointed out why all other cookware on the market will kill you or your kids someday. Guilt aside, the pots actually seem like not that bad of an investment, but even at the "super discount" they were offering tonight (At the end, the 23-piece set was going for like $1300),  we just do not have the money, so we took our little vacation booklet and grocery coupon and left.  After the presentation was over, we did not get cornered by the sales rep. When we went to leave, he did not try to bully us into buying anything, he was very "Ok, if you guys don't want it, you don't want it", which we greatly appreciated. However, going over the fine print, to get the "free" trip, you have to pay a $100 deposit that's supposedly refundable, though they don't really explain how. Trip does NOT include your airfare. Also to actually redeem the trip, in addition to the $100, there's this whole process w/redeeming different vouchers and confirmation numbers seems like a giant headache ... and after all that they reserve the right to tell you that you either can't go WHEN you want to or WHERE you want to. It doesn't seem likely that you would say, book Cancun for November and get told "No, you're going to Ontario in April", but you never know. After great discussion over the fine print (In White Castle, lol), we decided we're not going to bother with the "free trip" that has so many strings attached. For a fraction of the stress, we can just book something ourselves in the hotel of our choosing on Expedia or whatever. We WILL be seeing what we can do with the grocery coupon thing though. So, if any of you get a call from them, unless you plan on either buying pots or jumping through the hoops to get the "free" trip, you really can skip out, you won't be missing anything.Peas out, brussel sprouts!

Thanks for the info.  There always seems to be a catch with anything "free".  That's kind of scary about the concern of pots killing us and our kids.  I just bought a new set this weekend from Target..hope it's not harmful.

Thanks for the follow up - I get those calls all the time, and always wonder if its worth going.

Ugh, we went to this as well. The guy was amusing, I agree, and it definitely made me think about how we prepare food. However, when we got to the end and they showed us how much it would be, we kindly declined and left. I haven't even looked at the vacation thing to be honest with you. I stand by the old saying that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Glad to hear that others went to this thing as well.
