Colors?

My fiance is gunning for bright colors... he keeps saying blue, green, orange, and yellow.

I like the idea of not having just one color, and I'm excited he's giving me imput (haha). But I have no idea how this would all go together without looking like a rainbow.

Does anyone have any pictures of some weddings along the lines of those colors? Google is no help to me, lol.

I'd like to stay away from pink and purple, and just focus on those colors. Personally, I don't really care what the color is as long as it doesn't look garish and it isn't pink/purple. And if he's excited about those colors I'd love to run with it, it's his wedding too.

Anyone? Beuler?

Re: Colors?

  • Google "Primary Colors Wedding".

You'll get tons of ideas. I personally think this concept is very hard to pull off without looking like a 3 year old's birthday party.

Your best bet might be to have the wedding party in Navy or Gray and accent with brightly colored flowers.

<div>I must second this. I Googled it the way PP suggested, and all those colors together immediately made me think "Luau." Having the flowers and some pops of those colors in your decor would look great, but I don't think I'd go full throttle with them. </div>

  • Yeah I don't like the idea of all those colors together. Can he maybe compromise and do Blue, Green and Yellow, or Blue Green and Orange?

4 bold colors are too much for me personally.

  • I was kind of having the same problem, it either looked too kiddie or like a box of crayons. As soon as Addie said "Luau" it's all I can see. We've looked at pictures of green and orange, which (surprisingly) we both like.

I'm kind of hoping to sway him away from keeping the blue and yellow on top of it all. Or at least just picking one or the other and have some very small accents with the one...just in case he's not willing to completely change his mind.

This is the hardest part. Without the colors I'm kind of screwed on everything else, aren't I?

    Thanks ladies!
  • Maybe you could show him some Google search pics of some more weddings with just a couple of colors and he could give you some feedback on those. If you don't want just blue and yellow, don't show him that combo and hope he doesn't think of it on his own. ;)

  • He decided on just just the orange and green. With white to offset the bright colors. I can definitely live with white being a major color.... saves us from having lime green linens. :)

I told him we're going to "lock in those color" haha... so looks like that's what we're going with. I can happily live with this.
  • I had a friend who used yellow and green and tied it together with black. It was lovely. I think the idea of using two colors was probably best. What color bridesmaids dresses were you thinking?

  • Oooh! I love orange and green and white. That'll be beautiful.
