hotel room blocks & limos

quick question - these are the only 2 things we have NOT booked yet. how far in advance would you reccomend doing so? we ONLY need a limo for the girls, from my parents house to Masso's in Glassboro since our ceremony & reception are both there. I also don't envision having many people staying at a hotel, but i want to have it there as an option - do you have to put $ down for a block of rooms or how does it all work? tia for all ur info & advice - love u girls!!

My wedding is 3 weeks after yours and I did both a few months ago.  I would receommend working on the limos soon, as May is prom season and and also a pretty busy wedding month.  For a limo just to do a drop off I recommend Zark Limousine out of Mt. Ephraim - they are one of the only companies who will not charge a 3 hour minimum.DO NOT put any $ down for a hotel block and if you are told you must do so, book another hotel.  Contact the hotel you are interested in blocking and they will draw up a contract for you to sign - basically says the dates, price, number of rooms blocked (some hotels have a max amt of say 20 rooms), and the deadline for your guests to book to receive the discounted rate.  Once you return the contract your all set.  Usually your guests just mention the LastName-LastName Wedding and they get the rate.  You can always book more than one hotel to give ppl options, which is what we did.GL!

I think it depends on when your wedding is!  Mine is at the end of June, so while it's past prom season (since it's after graduation), it is wedding season and apparently, where I'm getting married there's a huge soccer tournament that weekend so hotels are getting blocked up already.  I'm glad I did it when I did!  If you're in May, you'll be hitting up against wedding and prom season, so you should go ahead and do it as quickly as possible!  But it really only took me maybe 30 minutes tops to do it; I called 3 places, chose the best 2 rates, and the sales reps e-mailed me the contracts, which I then mailed out after reviewing and signing.I don't know about limo, but for the same reason as above, I'd say you should do it now, or soon.  Limo is our next big thing, we're calling companies starting this week.

My wedding is the first weekend in June and we booked our Limo about a month ago. A few places that we called around to didn't have our date because we kind of cross over with late proms, early graduations and wedding season. I would do that sooner than later. Our reception site gave us a time line of things to be done and the hotel block was one of the first things. Our reception site has a hotel on site. We will be sending out the room block information with our save the dates in a few weeks. It also depends on what hotel you are looking into. They could have different policies. With ours if our guests have not reserved their room a month before the wedding we have to make the choice to buy up the extra rooms on our block that have not been reserved or release them back to the hotel and our guests are stuck with the full price if they reserve after that. I agree with pp do not put out any type of money!

pharm jen i did call that zark limo and whomever i spoke with was very nasty - like i was inconveniencing him because i would only be using them for a short period of time and not all day - he said they do have a minimum of 3hrs because i would block the car up for all day - ugh any other suggestions?

Wow, I'm sorry that was your experience.  I rec'd them to another knottie and she was able to book them for 1 hour to do a straight drop off as well.  I'm sure after that experience you probably don't want to call back but maybe if you called another time you might speak to someone more helpful.  Again sorry that was your experience.
