Florist Budget

Hey guys!
I was hoping you could help me out  with this. I have NO IDEA what flowers are supposed to cost. With other things, I can look online and get general ideas on prices, but with flowers, I can't even guess. Before I start visiting florists, I was hoping to have an idea so I can figure out whether the prices they are giving to me are reasonable or not!  I seriously don't know where a bouquet or centerpiece costs a dollar or a million dollars! Help!

Re: Florist Budget

Floral budgets can really vary widely.  I did flowers last (in Dec for my May wedding) so I had a pretty specific budget in mind once I got started.  I met with 3 florists and by #3, I had a better understanding of the types of flowers I wanted and the breakdown in price (I was clueless when I started).  I found that most of my cost was in the number of centerpieces (all are low) and personals (bouquets, bouts, etc) I needed.

From my experience, I found bridal bouquests were quoted $175-250, BM bouquets $65-85, and centerpieces were $85-100.  I'm sure others will have cheaper (or even higher) quotes but these are based off the 3 vendors I met with.

I'm working with Carl Alan Creations in Center City.  You can see pics of my mock ups in my bio.  GL!

My experience was similar to pharmjen's.  I met with 3 florists, and was quoted $165/220 for bridal bouquet, $60-$80 for bridesmaids, $10-$30 for bouts, $115-$195 for centerpieces, and $30-$90 for altar arrangements.  It very much depends on what types of flowers you want, and whether they're in season for when you want them.  I'm having manzanita tree centerpieces, for example, with 2types of orchids and roses wired on, and that $115 is with the branches rented - it's much more if we buy them, because manzanita branches are so expensive to ship, and they're not indigenous to the NJ area.

And remember to try more than 1 florist - my first florist quoted me $2700, and the second one quoted me $4900 - for the same exact thing!!
