The Mansions on Main Street

So I'm not one to complain but I just can't get over the conversation I had with one of their staff.

I had set up an appointment to see their site about a month ago and in the past week booked another venue we fell in love with.  I called to cancel and in doing so they asked why, and then what venue I booked.  After my response I was given an attitude about how "if you what you want is a generic, cheap wedding you picked the right place"  and how they could have made it worth it for me to book with them but now I'll never know.  I was speechless and uttered okay.  To which the woman said "alright well enjoy you wedding if you can" and hung up!

Are they serious? I'm glad I didn't book with them.  It was completely unprofessional!

That's ridiculous!!!! I have been to a wedding at the Mansion and I have to tell you that the food was AWFUL!!  The amount of money you pay for that place you would think that you would get a decent meal but it was not good at all!! My filet was like a rock.

Where did you end up booking?!

Good luck with everything!  (You're better off!!!)

We booked at Lucien's Manor in Berlin.  I have been to many weddings there and have never heard a complaint.

I'm glad to hear I dodged a bullet with the Mansion's food.

    Thanks for the well wishes!

    Good Luck to you too!

I find that really hard to believe. I had my wedding at the Mansion. I still hear how wonderful everything was. And my sister is having her wedding there. She is having a great time with her coordinator and everyone has been great.
I know they recently got a new chef.
But I can't imagine someone saying that to you. It is a beautiful, elegant place.
When did you call to cancel your appointment?? Recently?

I called and canceled two days ago for my appointment today.  I thanked them for setting up the appointment but said we decided to have the wedding else where.

I also received and attitude when I tried to schedule my appointment with them.  It was the same woman and she said they only do weekend tours.  When I explained to her a month of weekends were booked for us due to work, she responded with "well how to expect to come in if every day I pick you're busy?" I asked for a weekday and she explained to me it would be "pointless because the room wouldn't be set up."  I understood that and was completely okay but she pushed for the weekend.  In my opinion if you want my money, you should let me come in when I'm available, and not push for me to call out of work.

I have heard similar stories from friends and didn't even want to call in the first place but I loved the staircases inside!  I don't know if it's just the woman I've been speaking to or what?

I'm glad you guys had a better experience.

@ Shannon...looks like we're in the same room at Lucien's.  When is your wedding?  Who did you book with? Have you done your tasting yet?

We booked with Dee and we loved her.  Very sweet and caring!

    GL to you as well!

Nicole - Fun!  As soon as we walked in we knew we wanted our reception there.  My wedding is October 28, 2011.  I also booked with Dee, love her - she's awesome.  We're doing the tasting March 2 (I believe another girl on this board is also doing it then).

    When is your big day?

Nicole- I am going to have to tell my sister. I toured on a weekday and no the room wasn't set, it was ok.
It really is a beautiful place w the gardens and yes, the staircase. So sorry you had that experience, but good luck with your wedding.

We booked at the Mansion for June 4 and we've had nothing but a great experience so far. It stinks that whomever was on the phone with you had a bad attitude!

I had my wedding there in August and didn't have any major problems. The food was good, our guests raved about the food an atmosphere, and my bridal attendant and Maitre 'D on the day of the wedding were awesome.

Sorry you had a bad experience.

@Shannon Our big day is April 13th of next year and it can't come soon enough.  She threw that date out for our tasting. I am hoping we can make but we're moving into our first home next week so we'll have to see! Hope you enjoy it!

To the other girls...I'm glad you guys had great experiences. I wish we could have had one as well but as they say everything happens for a reason AND Lucien's is a 100% our perfect venue.

    GL planning!
