Would it be ok...

I found a reading that we like, and it fits us so well... except for the last line. It's kind of a downer, that line, and I was wondering if our reader can leave it off. Here's the passage.

"Love is friendship caught fire; it is quiet, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection, and makes allowances for human weaknesses. Love is content with the present, hopes for the future, and does not brood over the past. It is the day-in and day-out chronicles of irritations, problems, compromises, small disappointments, big victories, and working toward common goals. If you have love in your life, it can make up for a great many things you lack. If you do not have it, no matter what else there is, it is not enough."

The last line is the one I'm talking about. Sorry it's so small, it wouldn't let me adjust the font size.

  • I love that reading! Might steal it!  I agree last line is a downer.  Leave it off if you want or add something at the end if you creative with words!  I see no problem just getting rid of it!  Where did you find that reading?

You can always leave off the last line.  I don't think it's a downer though.  I'm reading it as it doesn't matter what material things you have in your life, they don't matter as much as love.

  • I don't have the link up right now. Just google the title "Love is Friendship set on fire" and you will get it.

  • I like it.  You could just have the reader cut the last line off, I've done that for a wedding I read at.

I get the meaning of the last line but it could be a little bit of a knife in the heart to a guest who doesn't have love.

  • Just leave it off if you don't like it.  There's nothing that says you have to have the reader read it.
  • love the quote, but I agree, I would leave off the last line.
  • thats an awesome reading...i too may have to steal it, but definitely not using the last line

sounds like something "debbie downer" would say

  • Yeah I would leave off the last line.  We are actually combining 2 different readings and making it one...I think you can take it off and no one would be the wiser Smile
