If they don't hold flowers- then what?

I don't feel the need to pay extra for flowers. I'm going with a package deal at a casino in Vegas and it doesn't come with flowers and I am actually not sure at all if it comes with table centerpieces. I do not care at all about either of these- but if your bridesmaids aren't holding flowers- is it so odd to have them hold nothing at all? Cause that's what I'm thinking. I can't bring in anything like brooch bouquets, etc. What alternatives are there?

Re: If they don't hold flowers- then what?

  • It's fine for them to be empty-handed. Other options include clutches (which you would purchase), candles or lanterns (if you're having an evening ceremony), origami flowers, pinwheels, etc. Offbeat Bride has a lot of ideas.

  • Sometimes they carry clutches or a single flower. It would be fine if they didn't carry anything, though.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • a handheld fan, a bible, a parasol, gloves, one flower each

  • What about a single flower to each girl? or....feather bouquet?? http://media-cache-ec6.pinterest.com/550x/cb/f7/e7/cbf7e7c1a96adbea0bc1529d9b704d0f.jpg

You'll never be subject to a cash bar, gap, potluck wedding, or b-list if you marry a Muppet Overlord.
  • sparkly clutches!

  • I really like the fan idea. A friend just mentioned it to me. I had never thought of that. It is going to be WAY hot in Nevada in August so a fan would be great.
  • They don't have to hold anything.  If you're looking to save money, then I would go with nothing.  While the other suggestions are all good ones, they will cost just as much as (if not more than) flowers.

  • Its not so much the money but the fact that the venue will only allow flowers purchased through them and they are over priced.

Ideas I have had since starting this post:

    Fans (paper or feathers)
    Oversize flower braclet
    Oversize keys
    Vintage handheld mirrors
    Favorite books
    Beaded clutches

I like the idea of fans and mirrors the most. Although I don't know if mirrors would be too wierd. I saw a wedding where the BMs carried barbies. I thought that was a bit out there for me.

  • how about a bouquet of big feather plumes, dyed with rhinestones and or glitter - a vegas showgirl style bouquet in your wedding colors or a different color for each maid and each maid has a matching hue dress....plum, peach, mint, aqua?

how about metallic balloon bunches with ribbons in wedding colors?  pop - confetti inside at end of ceremony /> awesome picture moment

how about if you do choose fans, each is calligraphied with the maid's name and a flower painted on it (one is daisy one is rose one is lily?)

[QUOTE]In Response to Re:If they don't hold flowers then what?: You can get lace or wood fans or else candles for a few dollars apiece, or old books for even less. How does that cost more than bouquets or nose gays.

    </div><div>It doesn't, I guess...though single flower stems are pretty inexpensive.</div><div>
</div><div>I guess my point was that it would be weirder having bridesmaids holding something random (oversized key?  mirror?) than if they didn't hold anything at all.  I don't think she needs to come up with something just so the bridesmaids have something in their hands.

  • How about BM dresses with pockets,so like the men put their hands in their pockets, the ladies can choose to.
  • They don't need to hold anything.
  • Check and see what they do allow. Our Vegas venue is good with anything as long as it's not real or artificial flowers, so I'm having origami flower bouquets.

<div>That's interesting. I don't know why a place would hav a problem with artificial flowers but not paper flowers. I love all thes little rules. </div><div>
</div><div>I am leaning still towards fans, I like the idea of actually having something useful in thier hands. </div><div>
