What do i start doing??? I've got the reception place...I just order Save the dates....thats it for awhile right??? haha im new at this obviouslY!!

You have a while.... you didn't even need to get save the dates yet, definitely don't send them out before 6 months before the wedding.

Get your photographer, videographer and DJ. These are 3 things that book fast and if you wait too long you may not get the people you want, or if you spend too much money on other things you may not be able to afford the people you want.

ditto pp, but you still have a wihle being over 2 years out. Many vendors don't book this far out though so you should be fine.

Agree with pp's. Those 3 vendors book up really fast! We started looking at Photographers around 18 months before our wedding and many were already booked for our date. If you can it also doesn't hurt to book them early because a lot of vendors raise their prices every year. We are able to save a good amount by booking in 08 and our wedding is next month. HTH!

I also agree with pps-def start looking for videographer, dj and photographer especially if you are getting married in a popular month.

After you get done with the previously mentioned vendors, you may want to look into hair/makeup people.  Some of them book quickly too.

I booked my venue and photog about 16 months out.
Videographer - about 14 mo.
Hair and makeup- a year (because I knew who I wanted and just wanted to get her booked).

And I sent my save the dates out about a year out.  My whole family is in another state and I just wanted people to know when it was...

Good point Imparlett we also have a lot of out of town guests and sent our save the dates about 10 months in advanced.

So far we have our photographer (we knew who we wanted) and reception/ceremony site. I agree with what the girls above said, I am probably going to start looking into hair next - awhile down the road - and DJ. I'm wish I could start looking for a dress!!

Well, i sent my save the dates.  My reason is because i have an enormous family.  Cousins all older AND in relationships, and being i have my reception site, and paying, i dont want someone to not know, and set a wedding around the same time.

KJDP -- Mine is June 2, 2012..a saturday.  Very excited, and i do not having a ceremony site yet. still looking into a few churches.  And within the next month I am going to start on photographers & such.  I want to have my selection...as mention by a few of the ladies, and with hearing what everyone has said, i now and more "ok" with starting more planning, because that was my exact thought, if i want certain thigns & people, i have to book eearly enough..
