Merion Ladies - Ice Sculptures

What is everyone doing for their ice sculptures? Any inspiration pictures? Has anyone discussed their ideas with the Merion?

I'm wondering how elaborate we can be with our choice. Thanks Ladies!!

I would LOVE to do kissing penguins (we have a thing for penguins, and they were involved in our proposal).  I have no idea if this is way too over the top.

Awww that sounds really cute. We want to do 2 squirrels (inside joke from my bridal shower and between FI & I) and I was wondering the same thing about whether it would just be too complicated.

We're doing a snowflake for the regular one just because it's part of our theme... then we're having the grooms station so we're doing the NY Rangers logo because we're huge hockey nuts. I think I am more excited about this than the snowflake. I make a terrible girl, haha.

we did the love park statue for our ice sculpture... I wasn't really that into picking something unique, I kind of feel like ice sculptures are just whatever... but I think it turned out cute and to our guests it was creative (since the majority of them aren't scouring wedding pictures online all the time lol).  What I really wanted was an ice luge but they weren't having it.  We also did the grooms station with the Ohio State logo and everyone loved it!  I was more excited about that than the regular sculpture too lol :)

They told me that people were getting too drunk with the ice luge, but that doesn't really seem like a valid enough reason to me to not allow them... then someone on here told me there were insurance issues.  Who knows, but believe me I tried!!!

These are some good ideas!  When did you hash out the ice sculpture?  At the menu finalization?  I feel like I have no idea when any of this stuff happens... I wish the Merion gave us a detailed timeline with exactly what to expect and do when.... Or maybe I want that because I am too excited to wait!

ev4149 - I totally agree with you. I would be missing out on things without the other Merion ladies on this board. I am assuming the ice sculpture will get hashed out at the menu finalization meeting.

I totally agree with you too, they should give you a schedule or something so you know when things will get taken care of.  The finalization meeting is basically when you go over ALL of your details, ice sculpture included.  I had my meeting 2 months before my wedding and I kind of wish I had waited a little longer.  I was starting to panic that everything we talked about at the meeting would be forgotten by the time my wedding came!

I feel like I've been getting such a different experience with my coordinator. The day we booked we got a timeline with the dates and times written in of EVERYTHING.... menu finalization, tasting, rehearsal dinner... She went over what we did at every meeting and has already laid out exactly what will happen the entire week of the wedding for us. Which is exactly what I need because I have never become so OCD until this wedding.

Wow! That is amazing. Definitely great for you. Who is your coordinator?

We have Stephanie... I can't even tell you how great it has been working with her. She's been there for every phone call, available for us to come to the hall to ask questions when I freaked out about our budget... she has involved Vinnie and Cliff a lot whenever I've been super nervous about stuff not working out and laid everything out very clearly for me. I think I'd go nuts without her.

I have Cathy as a coordinator and she has been great with us as well...she just emails me and lets me know when we should start thinking about certain things, etc. She has been great so far!

I have Stephanie too... we have a super basic timeline, but nothing really solid yet.  I guess I am still a bit far out to really be working with them (6 1/2 momths), but it's good to hear that she's been good working with!
