New Jersey - South

For the most memorable shopping experience!

If you live in the South Jersey area and are in search of the perfect wedding gown and bridesmaids gowns consider making a pitstop at Lily's in Washington Township. Not only will you be annoying your salesperson just by your presence, you will get a rude mouthful from the owner's daughter( who is definately over 50 y/o). After first going to LILY'S in early September I spent a grand total of 10 minutes in the store purchasing the only dress I tried on and paying $1000 , just like that. One thousand dollars in 10 minutes must not have been good enough because that is when I got the first glimpse of rudeness. My fiance was with me when I purchased the gown and we were looking at bridesmaids dresses and were basically asked to leave by them saying he shouldn't be here for this. We dont normally like men here. So I let it slide being that I found the perfect dress. Next, I guess the dresses I picked out weren't exensive enough at $200. I have 8 bridesmaids so they thought they were getting more money out of us. They kept showing me the ugliest, thickest material , and expensive dresses in the store and seemed bothered by the fact that I picked stylish and practically priced dresses. My bridesmaids didnt let me know this until yesterday but everytime they went there to get measured or pick up their dresses that were all ordered in a size too big that they seemed annoyed that they had to deal with them. When my dress finally came in and fit me perfectly besides a hem which I was charged a ridiculous amount of 175 bucks, they were flipping out. Saying things like " Never in my life has someone not had to get this dress altered. This is crazy no one fits in this dress." They even tried to get me to take it out one half of a centimeter! Are you serious?!?!?!?! So during my second fitting I was waiting to try on the gown and they said excuse me, what is it that you need? in the rudest possible way. We told them we were here to pick up my dress and then paid in cash the balance for my  alterations, everything after the initial deposit is paid in cash! a little fishy huh?? So the lady scrreams at me saying I couldve gotten the dress altered elsewhere if I didnt like the price, which she never said because I wouldn't have voluntarily drove an hour away to get alterations. Finally I in the gown and my mother who hasnt seen the dress at all was examing the alterations which were terrible. The dress wasn't pressed either. After the seamstress and the salesbitch gave my mother an attitude, who us a captain in the US Army, I flipped out. I have never been treated so rudely in my life they completely ruined my dress shopping experience. Those bitches really took the joy out shopping for a wedding gown. So if you want to be treated like you are the scum of the earth please go to LILY'S but if you want to be treated with respect go far far away!

I am so sorry you had a terrible experience! That is no way to be treated.

I am in a wedding in July and the bride picked out our bridesmaids dresses from there. I am very nervous about it all now. They were a little annoying especially when my mom told them i was getting married as well. They were trying to push a lot of items on me when they found out i didnt have accessories yet.

WOW that is a horrible experience. I purchased my bridesmaids dresses from lily's and I was a MOH in a wedding and she bought her dress from there. I think they are a little snotty but I find that a lot of sales people at bridal salons are that way. We did not have an experience anything like that but the dresses are not in yet. Hopefully everything will run smoothly. I don't think any of my bridesmaids are getting their alterations done there. I would just try it go you don't want to feel pissed off everytime you look at your dress just because they were a**holes. After all they did not design the dress they just were the ones who sold it to you unfortunately.

im sorry you had such a horrible experience at Lilly's - i went there with my mother a few wks ago because she knows the owner and were treated fine, they are all older ladies with low tolerances though i could def see that. sorry you had such a horrible experience, if i were you i would've def purchased my BM's dresses elsewhere!

Well according to them you don't have to get alterations there so I would recommend taking the dress elsewhere. My mom's dress was actually a better quality than my gown and her alterations were $45 bucks at a bridal salon in Somers Point while my hem was $175!!. So if you know a good seamstress I would do that to save some money. I think that it will save some aggravation too!
