Kenneth Stillman vs. My Cinematic Photographer

I usually post on the North Jersey board, but I know some of these videographers go all over.  Does anyone have any experience with either of these videographers?  What kind of feedback can you give me?  Did they get in the way or were they Unobtrusive? Any other info you can give me would be great.  We are not looking for anything major in video... we want to spend WAY less than $2000.

Thanks!

Well the ladies on this board have had plenty to say about ken Stillman and NONE of it was good. He has very bad customer service from what ive heard. There are still ladies waiting for their video after a year and half after their wedding. I have not heard of my cinematic photographer. But by other ladies advice stay AWAY from ken stillman. You can also look back at our past boards and see what others said but like i said none of it is good. They never say his work is horrible but getting in touch with him or even getting your video in a reasonable time frame is the worst.
    hopes this helps

Actually, I am using Ken and he has been great.  He has always responded to me, given me a great price, we are even scheduled to meet up and have a few drinks so he can get to know me and my fiance.  He thinks when he knows the couple, his work is enhanced.

His work looks great.  I am very excited to use him.  But the prior post was right, apparently it takes some time to get your videos back.  He explained to me recently though how he is changing the way he produces the final video to get it back to his customers more efficiently.

And, as far as the non-responsive issue - he called me.  I email him, he responds sometimes literally in minutes.  Therefore, I've experienced NONE of the issues some other girls have.  However, take the other complaints with a grain of salt - he uses music over your videos and one girl complained that he did not get her video back to her over a year later - and then she said that she only gave him her music selections 5 months prior or so!  Well if she had done her job and given him the music selection, maybe he would have gotten to her video and had more time to do it...or maybe he though that when she waited over 7 months to get it to him - she didn't care too much about her video.

    It's all relative.  Good luck!

I used him and he was great. I hate being taped and I barely even noticed he was there. It wasn't until watching home video of us singing along to Paradise by the Dashboard Light that I realized that I was thisclose to a camera while embarrassing myself. I also appreciated that he didn't let a rather obnoxious wedding guest keep him from doing his job.

I don't have my video yet but I'm certain it will be worth the wait. And I've also seen on his blog that his new packages include Same Day Edits so either you won't have to wait or you'll have something to hold you over while you wait.  I wouldn't hesitate recommending him, especially knowing that.

I've also never had trouble getting in touch with him despite several personal setbacks (family illness/death, etc.) he's dealt with in the time since my wedding.

    Or basically what Ksukinik said.

I used Ken and I disagree with the pp.  Our guests loved our Big Show and photo montage.  They gave us several copies so our families can enjoy it at home.  They never got in the way at the reception.  I understand that takes a while to get the final product but since it's expected, I don't think it's a big deal.  Last month, he emailed brides that got married the same month as me to keep us updated which was very thoughtful.  I've never found it difficult to get a hold of him.  I also was happy that he came to our place to show us his packages, I was getting tired of driving around NJ to visit every vendor.  Now I just watch my Big Show DVD while I wait for the final product.
