Cost of hair and makeup

I understand where each of you is coming from, I expected to get prices, but got much more than that.  Without knowing the full background of myself and the given bridesmaid, true judgement is not possible.

I have to be honest... imo anyhow who agrees to be a Bridesmaid in a wedding party, HAS to know that there are certain costs associated with that title. There is absolutely the option of saying "I'm so honored that you asked me but I really don't think that it's something I can afford the time or money for but please let me know if there's any other way I can be there for you during your wedding." My husband and I did have one friend say that and we were not offended in the slightest, in fact we valued his honesty because it made planning easier knowing we wouldn't have battles like these to fight. At the end of the day, without being a bridezilla about it, the day IS about the bride and groom. They are the ones who are spending thousands of dollars on the day and the photography and if you want to look back on your photographs and see matching hairstyles, dresses, etc etc there is nothing wrong with that. I had a very similar problem with two of my bridesmaids, they said it was a monetary thing and I told them they had a choice... get the hair and makeup done by my girl OR, I would give them an exact picture of what I wanted done and they could get it done on their own. At the end of the day they learned it was much cheaper to go with my girls and got it done with us but the bigger thing is when they saw the photographs, they realized why it was so important to me. Like you, I let them pick their dress, I let them wear whatever shoes they wanted, I got them all their jewelery, the ONLY thing I asked from them was their hair and makeup and in the end it was worth it!
