Menu Finalization at Merion DONE, finally ahead on something!

So yesterday we did our menu finalization meeting with Stephanie and just a few things to comment on... 1) Once again, they went above what we could even have expected. We were torn between the Street Vendors station and the Grooms station so we were going to choose both of them. But since they're so similar Vinnie let us combine the two stations into one so we could still pick another station. They updated the menu AGAIN since we were there last and there's now a new Steakhouse station so we picked that as our last station which is awesome. We also picked a signature drink for the martini station... we're going to do blueberry vodka with stoli vanilla for a blueberries and cream martini to go with the blue in the wedding. They also added new fish entrees since the last time we were there so we did something I'm scared about and we picked an entree we never tasted!

We did end up talking to them about the cake situation and how we went outside the hall for the cake. Stephanie did not seem as understanding about why we did it however Vinnie TOTALLY understood and said that's why they stopped using Isgro's so he is going to "blow up" the Viennese hour for us, as he put it, to make up for the loss of the cake in our package. We also got them to add in Sangria for us for the evening.

We asked Stephanie about doing the photo booth in the ballroom and she said that was totally okay, we're going to do it in the back corner so it's out of the way but still IN the ballroom which works. Thanks to other Knotties warnings we also made arrangements to come the next day to pick up all our centerpieces and stuff.

All in all the meeting went well but more than anything I'm just relieved they have been so accomodating to every request we've had and so willing to give us more and more without us even asking. I just hope the fish entree we chose ends up being good!

Sounds like a successful meeting!  I love that they are being so accomodating with the stations.  I still have yet to set up my cake tasting now that I cancelled with Isgro's

What was the new fish entree that you went with? We just did the Chilean Sea Bass.

Yeah when we went for our tasting last week I noticed that they had the new fish entrees. I guess it's good that they update the menu but we don't seem to get notice of it nor do I think it is on the website. I never heard about the new stations. I'd be lost without you ladies.

What did you pick for your dinner choices? What's your wedding date again?

Our date is January 16th. We're definitely early on things but I work retail and my FI is a mall cop (haha he'd kill me if he saw that) so they knew our schedule would leave NO time to get to the hall after November.

We ended up going with the Chateaubriand for the meat, the Chicken Oscar for the chicken dish (any ladies who have not done your tasting yet - try it. I only got that as a choice because I accidently told her that one instead of different one and it was AMAZING) and we went with a new salmon.... it has a mandarin teryaki glaze with a ginger rice and baby bokchoy. It was just something so different than anything else we had and we figured we'd give people a chance to get something they wouldn't find at most weddings. They also added barramundi with a basil risotto which I REALLY wanted but could not convince the boy on.

The new steakhouse station seems great, you have a choice of NY strip steak or flank steak (we went with the flank steak - the strip just seemed too entree-ish for cocktail hour) with caesar salad, creamed spinach, onion rings and one other side which is escaping my memory at the moment. I just realized now though that we picked the caesar salad for our salad option so maybe I should change that now that we have this. Oops.

What sauce did u do with the Chateaubriand? We had that at our tasting and I just wasn't big on the sauce but the meat itself was amazingly tender. I saw the barramundi on the menu during our tasting but I haven't ever had that fish before. We're probably going with the stuffed flounder. It was sooooooooo yummy. That's what I plan to eat at our wedding. :)

FYI, in case they didn't already mention it to you, they'll let you and your fiance have whatever you want at the wedding... We did chateau briand and the stuffed flounder for our guests but I had the crab cakes and he had filet  :)

They did let us know that! Because we were disagreeing on what fish to choose until that new one popped up and they told me if we're picking based on what we want not to even worry about it for that reason. I was joking around saying in that case I'm going for the surf and turf.

I wasn't that thrilled with the sauce either so we're going to go with a bearnaise sauce I think. The meat itself was so good I think we could stick a bottle of A1 on the table and it'd be good! I thought about the stuffed flounder as the fish entree but thought that might be too much crab since we're doing the chicken oscar. It sounded really good though.
