Wedding Band Rates

We are speaking with a South Jersey band about playing at our wedding reception. They told us that their rate for playing at a Philadelphia venue is $1,200 more than it is for playing at a New Jersey venue.  Has anyone else heard of this disparity in cost?  Does anyone know why the rates are so different?

    Travel time. Gas. Parking fees. Extra time to set up due to difficulty getting into the hall. Philadelphia income tax. Work permits. Meal allowance (if it's a longer work day). Bridge tolls.

    It all adds up pretty quick, especially if they are a ten piece horn band.

    Plus weddings in Philly are just an overall pain in the ass. Fighting the traffic and parking your car is just a nightmare. I don't know why anybody would have their wedding in center city.
