WTF Seaview???!!! MAJOR VENT

Ok so far, we have had little stress with planning this wedding.  There was an article in the paper that Seaview Country Club may be being sold to Stockton College....and there are many possibilities...but one of them is that it may become a dorm room!!!

OMG I will seriously blow a chip if my upscale expensive wedding facility and hotel are turned into a college dorm!!WTF!!!

To top it all off...the hotel has been for sale for years according to the wedding coordinator, but they neglected to tell us this!!  They had no problems cashing our checks though ughhhhhhhhhh

We are going for our tasting on Sunday and boy are we going to have a mouth full for them....i would have never booked there had i known it was for sale.

The new owners can change anything they want. What if the food quality isnt as good.  What if they change the staff that I have been working with that I absolutely love....We have no choice as of right now except to wait it out and see what happens, but now I am totally stressing!!!

I also wanted to post this so anyone who may be considering the Seaview is aware of whats going on!!!  The place is beautiful and the people have been wonderful so far, but who knows if it is all going to go downhill fast from here!!!

I feel your pain - I actually just switched venues myself with a similar situation. But what I will say is that - first call them up and ask them if they are definetly selling and if so ask when the new owners "Stockton" would be taking over. Since your wedding is only 4 months away you may have nothing to worry about. Usually that kind of thing takes a few months to turn over. Converting the place into a dorm in time for the fall semester would be really hard too - especially if the sale isnt definite. Also read through all the fine print on the contract and make sure you know what you are entitled to. BUT most importantly just call them ASAP, so you are not worrying yourself to death until Sunday.

Thanks! I did talk to them and the sale is not final yet, and deals fall through all the time.....I am trying to keep positive here....

I will review the contract and see what I am entitled to...thanks so much for talking me off the ledge!!LOL

My understanding of the sale was to use the facility for their restaurant and mangement major.  I went to UD and we had a marriot that was "run" by the students for that major and I thought that's what Stockton wanted to do.  But definitely check into what legal rights you have.  I really hope your event will be ok!  sales like this can take months to complete!  keep your head up!

</div><div>I did not pay $120 per person to have interns run my wedding!!! That is what my major beef is!!  I signed a contract based on Seaviews reputation and service...Not Stockton College Students playing hotel management!!</div>

EEEk that sounds horrible, I'll be getting married there next Saturday.  We had an oh crap moment when we got a letter from them in the mail about 8 months ago(approx.) saying that it was bought out by another company, Dolce.  Luckily nothing major changed for us and the food is just as good.  However, the employees had to re-interview for their jobs so we were pretty concerned for awhile that we wouldn't be working with our coordinators.  Good luck!

Wow..I didnt even know that place was still there. We used to go there for lunch and to change after marine outings when I went to Stockton. Your wedding is in 3 months, I highly doubt anything will change before then.

You'll be fine, relax. Your wedding is in October, way too soon for anything to take effect and cause major changes. They can't make it a dormatory over night, and they certainly can't take away from how beautiful the structure and grounds are.

    **Just Breathe**

This won't effect your wedding. The property has sold at least once in the past two years, you should be aware of that as well. People who got married there in 2008 have different owners than the 2010 brides and there haven't been any major explosions as a result.

They didnt change ownership, they just changed property management groups from Marriot to Dolce....not a state college where interns could be running things!!

I am much more relaxed now..

Msjuly..good luck...i do have to say that jessica and jennifer are wonderful over there...they have been great in talking me off the ledge...good luck on saturday...we are going for our tasting on sunday...and im really trying to keep being excited....

It is an absolutely beautiful facility...which is why we picked it...plus jennifer was amazing to work with even before we signed the contract...im thinking we should be ok because of the short time frame...(im thinking happy thoughts) its just a bit scary!!

On behalf of Stephen Prakash, General Manager of Seaview:

Thank you for your commentary.  Just for clarification purposes should Stockton purchase Seaview, (which is very likely at this point), they are committed to it continuing to be run as a first class historic hotel with golf and all the existing amenities.  Should students be housed here in the off season at some future date, they would be housed in a private hotel wing with a separate rear entrance and would in no way affect the ambiance of the hotel.  We appreciate your concern and look forward to welcoming you back to Seaview.
