2 recent bridal shows...Crown Plaza Cherry Hill and The Merion

Just wanted to share some info. My daughter and I, with her FMIL and her FI, went to 2 different bridal shows in the past 2 weeks. The first at the Crowne Plaza was really awful. Very little food, no cake tasting, crowded, and the fashion show was pretty bad--underwear showing, tags showing, wrinkled gowns, etc. The DJ was really bad. Can't remember who it was, but they offer live singers with the DJ service. Pretty awful--they were making mistakes, starting and restarting songs, etc. I'm pretty sure no one there took their info after that performance. The next weekend was at the Merion, which we went to because my daughter's wedding is booked there. It was MUCH better....more fun, lots of food, and a cake tasting (Merion cake) that was incredible (pear cake with caramel frosting-omg!)! The fashion show was great, and the DJs were so much better. My daughter has decided on that DJ company, and she also found her officiant and her florist! Well worth the visit!

The pear cake with the caramel frosting was our grooms cake flavor!!! It was AMAZING. It's worth going to the bridal show just to try that!

I know! Soooo good! Can I ask about how much they charge for a groom's cake? And was yours elborate?

I'll include a picture of both my cakes! We paid $1500 but it was for both the cake and an extra "Grooms station" during the venetian hour, it was VERY elaborate and it was amazing, no one could believe it was a cake. It was easily of the quality, if not better than any of the ones you see people make on tv, half the price and tasted way better. (I've had the Cake Bosses cake and it's nothing to write home about.)

OMG that cake is insane!! wow, they are REALLY good! I've seen a number of their wedding cakes--which are gorgeous...but this is amazing!

Hi! I am recently engaged (said yes 1/28!) I've been looking at the Merion, only online so far. I was wondering if they have fixed rates or if they can work with you based on your budget. Any info you have would be very much appreciated. :-) Thanks!

First of all, congratulations!!! You have some exciting times ahead of you!!

The Merion was FANTASTIC about working with us on budget to be honest with you. We went in to a rate that was well above our budget. We gave them what we could afford and not only did they meet it, they threw in an extra station. About six months after we booked with them, my husband was in a very bad car accident and he was out of work for a while. We went to them and explained that we were not in the same place financially. We gave them the new number we could afford and they went LOWER than what we could afford AND lowered our minimum plus allowed us to count kids and vendors towards that minimum. I'm telling you - I cannot say enough wonderful things about this venue and working with them.

I agree with the above info. The Merion was very accomodating in working with us. And the place is so beautiful! Also, the cake is to die for!

Hey I am actually a Merion bride!  They acutally worked with us on price and I absolutely love their cake and food.  It is a gorgeous place.  Definitley make an appointment with them.  Try to get Sue Aita, she is a huge sweetheart and is willing to work with brides on a budget!

and like the other girls above, we named our price and they accepted it with no hesitation and also threw in the extra station...I cannot rave about them enough!

Looking to book the Merion for early May 2013! Does anyone know what they require as a deposit to hold a date and the approx price per person? We have our appt on Sat...so excited!!
