Good morning!

Hey everyone!

Good morning! How's everyone doing?

We had a stressful night last night. We leave the dogs in the living room because Geno hurts himself in a crate.  It's usually a great thing. We have controlled Ike's peeing which has been wonderful. But yesterday, they chewed up a little bit of the carpet.

Ugh. So we got a baby gate to put them in the room on the main floor which also has access to the fenced in back yard. I hope it works. They behave SO WELL when we are home, they just sometimes get into a little trouble when we are gone.

Any advice on dogs who hurt themselves in crates? Our vet said that Geno shouldn't be in a crate because his anxiety is SO intense so she suggested a smaller room. I'm hoping when we move we can find a place with a room that doesn't have carpet. If we only had a smaller room with no carpet, we'd be golden. I hate not being able to change that right now. But I keep telling myself, 3 more months!

What is everyone else up to on this fine Wednesday?

Does he have seperation anxiety even when you leave him in a small room? IMO that may be just as bad as putting him a crate and even more distructive. I would also be careful keeping the two dogs together when you know he will act out, sometimes the other dog tends to pick up on each other bad habits, having two anxious dogs would be terrible.

I am very very tired. I don't normally work Wednesdays, but I decided to come into work today to go to a "go/no-go" meeting for a project I have been working on for the past few months...I don't really have any say in the matter, but I want to see how it unfolds.

But I am only working a half day because I have class...Ithen I have to go to get registered for graduation... (Scaarryy). I then have a meeting with my professor for my capstone project...oh joy. Then I have my business fraternity chapter meeting.  Then I get to go to sleep. I am also supposed to fit in doing laundry and packing to see my FI because I am leaving to head down to TX after  work tomorrow. I feel like a terrible college student but I think I am going to have to take my laundry home to do because the laundry mat is closed by the tme I get done with everything.

Well, leaving them together has been a blessing. For sure. They play together all day and really love each other.

It just happens every once in a while. Actually, they've been alone together during the day for over a month and this is the first time it happened. The last time, it was our fault because I left a pillow out. They love pillows.

The vet suggested a second dog and we definitely see wayyyyyyyy more positive changes than negative. We just need to tweak some things.

I didn't go to USC but I did grow up in Cola in the shadows of Williams-Brice.  We went to every game for as long as I can remember.  I love the Gamecocks and have chosen that lot in life HAA!!!

Nothing's really going on here. Just another day at work, I keep reminding myself it's Wednesday - I really don't feel like working anymore. Puppy dog is getting spayed today but that's really all that's going on here. Trying to make a list of things to accomplish this month wedding wise. Really about it.

My parents have a place in Myrtle so we have been vacationing there for about 10 years. He likes warm so he visited and liked it. He's a 5th year senior. It's his last semester. He really loves it but I don't think he'll stay in Columbia for a job. I think he'll head to the DC region which makes me sad because I'll be moving to Georgia when he is moving here!

Edit: H and I will have a house divided soon. He's a VA Tech fan and I'm a Pitt fan. Pitt is joining the ACC. We might get one of those cute house divided wreaths from etsy! :-)

For those talking about USC/Colombia - in Colombia, SC there is a food truck called "2 Fat 2 Fly".  We found it when it was at a little fair in Beaufort while FI was stationed at PI this summer.  Man, oh man, those things are soooo good... they sell stuffed chicken wings.  My favorites are "Sucka Punch" which is filled with cheddar cheese, bacon, and jalapenos and my obsession is their Mac 'n Cheese stuffed chicken wings - yes, they put literally two spoonfulls worth of amazing Mac inside the wings, deep fry them until deliciously crispy, and coat them with melted Velveeta-type cheese.  OMFG.....

I have liked their Facebook page.  If FI ends up back in PI, I'll probably drive all over the state to stalk them.

I loved Columbia, it is so close to everything.  Just a few hours to the coast, mountains and other cities.  Since I grew up there I didn't want to live there forever.  I still have very close friends there and I am up that way quite a bit.  However, it is hard for me to leave where I live now since I have gotten "sand in my shoes."

C- I know that truck and visited it often when I was in 5 points.  Nothing like it after a night of adult beverages!

And why is this not a national chain? I want this so badly.

What's up today is that dog. must. stop. chewing. and. peeing. I'm here with him all day, so we go out every hour or 2, and he knows that the door means out; he picked up the "no pooping" inside really quickly, but the peeing thing I could use advice on. He seems to know it's wrong, but he's not peeing in secret spots or anything. He just pees on the floor, occasionally in front of me, then I take him out. The auxiliary problem to this is that the cat peed on the floor last night (dog sleeps in his crate, cat has run of the apartment, and generally comes to bed with us). Which is waaaay worse than dog pee, and he (cat) really cannot get into the habit of that.

We have Kongs for the chewing, and ropes, and crazy critters, but nothing seems to be as delicious as computer wires and the legs of the couch. I'm going to try the bitter apple spray next, anyone know if that really works?

We're also dealing with dog-chase-cat things, but they seem to have fun, and cat can always jump up onto something, but now dog has discovered the litter-box. He wasn't interested in it before this week, but he really bothers the cat when he tries to play when the car is peeing or pooping.

post/base -  Kendall -  to your patch question and or DIY I've done FIs patches before but on his new blues we just left them at the uniform store and they put them on and tailored them doneee!!!

Today is going well - making time for anti school :)

Hike - try swapping out toys if you don't yet. Sara dog has a million toys, but i've noticed she doesn't need a million she just needs to miss them. We swap out what she gets and I have enough to freeze in a bin so I don't have to make them every day. I also make them harder but freezing peanut butter or something on the opening so it takes more effort and to time it so they last longer. The smart dog toys have worked great with her and she is much less destructive. To save the carpet the other thing I'd do is put in a deterrent so they wont do it again even board. cayenne pepper wont ruin it, can be vacuumed up and the dogs should get it on their nose or in their mouth and decide that rug isn't for them.
