Military Brides

Help with Colors!!

So my colors are navy and yellow. BMs wear navy dresses with yellow flowers. FI is wearing his Army dress blues. My dilema is what the heck should the groomsmen wear? None of them are military (yet) so they have to wear tux or suit. I just don't know what would look good next to his uniform.. Black tux with navy vest/ties? Gray suit with navy tie?  I'm not very good of visualizing how it will all look next to each other. I dont want it to look stupid.  Has anyone had this same problem?? Please help!

I'm a big fan of charcoal gray, and think it looks really good with the blue of the uniforms.

I don't think black tuxes would look stupid, but I do agree with Cal. I think a charcoal gray suit would look fabulous. Just go look at some and figure out what you like.

Our colors were Royal blue and Yellow... We had them wear royal blue vets with yellow (goldy yellow) ties and the same color 'kerchiefs

I LOOOOOVE grey ESPECIALLY with yellow, but I feel like using grey for the suits means you should use grey elsewhere to tie it in. Just a thought, if you go the grey route.
And our whole wedding party so you can get an idea (of course, you're going with Navy blue, we did Royal.. but similar :)

ETA: ZIm that wedding link you posted is amazing. LOVE that style. If I had more fashion sense I would have tried to pull that off haha

Don't try to match every thing with his uniform.  It looks odd.  I would do the grey suits.  If you so a vest, do grey.  You don't have to be matchy matchy.  A yellow bout with a little bit of a blue filler flower with tie it all together.  Yellow ties.

Thanks for the ideas ladies! It's greatly appreciated! I have been procrastinating at this whole wedding planning thing since I got engaged in April, b/c I figured I had plenty of time. Well it's less than 6 months till he commissions and graduates and week later we are getting married. So needless to say I am a little stresed now and feel like I have a million decisions to make! Which doesnt help that I am the most indecisive person in the world lol.

CBondy - typically around here, once a thread hasn't been commented on for a few days it's considered "dead" and it doesn't get any new posts.  I'd suggest starting your own thread if you have a specific question!  The girls here are generally very helpful and love talking weddings.

As far as colors go, most people tend to say not to try too hard to match the uniform - they're meant to be neutral and go with anything, whether it's black or gray, suit or tux (technically the dress blues would be of the formality of tuxes, so there's that).  You can totally have your "black and ivory" wedding and just have him in his dress blues - it would look just fine!

Cbony- TECHNICALLY the Army Blues equivalent is the tux, so a suit is a step down from that. But people tend to be pretty lenient on that sort of thing as long as it's done tastefully :]
You originally wanted JUST black and ivory, with no color accents? Because you could make the Navy blue JUST a light accent and keep it all black and ivory..

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN! My colors are Ivory and Navy(to match his uniform) and I really don't know if the men in the wedding (as some will be on my end as well) should wear tuxes or suits...I mean...I always invisioned having a black and ivory wedding but he wants his Army Blues so I'm being flexable...I'm going to follow your thread and see who says what. Thanks for posting. Take care and Good luck. :) ~another Army Bride
