Veil or No Veil? (PIP)

Well ladies, I found my wedding dress!! After two different shopping trips and trying on 11 dresses, I finally found "the one", and I am absolutely in love with it. Here's where I could use a little input - should I wear a veil with my dress or not. I never pictured myself wearing one and always thought I would just wear a crystal headband or a flower or something. BUT.......the bridal consultant at the store said I at least needed to try one on, so I did, and I didn't hate it. In fact, it actually made me think I might want to wear one for the ceremony. I don't know why I'm so indecisive when it comes to this kind of stuff. Oh, and if I DO decide to wear a veil, how to choose the length of it. I tried on the one pictured below, and also a chapel length one and liked them both. I know this is all a matter of personal preference, just looking for opinions and input. This is a really bad picture in terms of actually seeing what a veil looks like with the dress, but you kind of get the idea.

  • Your dress looks awesome! I'm glad you found one you love!

Personally, I don't like veils so I'd say not to wear one but if you liked it, do it!

  • Congratulations on finding your dress!! It looks stunning on you! I wasn't planning on wearing a veil until recently. I just started feeling like I might feel my look would be incomplete. So I'm actually at a bridal salon waiting for Kara to meet me, then we're going in and I'm trying on veils!

  • Gorgeous!  I actually like the length of the veil you're wearing in the pic from what I can tell.  I wasn't crazy about a veil either, but I decided to wear an elbow length one that I pinned in my updo rather than having it above the updo poofing out (if that makes sense). I took it off right after the ceremony.
  • I loved my veil. It was super, super simple and I think it was gorgeous (and also 20 bucks). I am pretty anti the headband thing, but everything is about what makes you feel pretty. I also took it off (actually during the ceremony because it was windy, and I'm a no nonsense broad).

  • Pretty dress!! It's so funny, I feel like we just had this exact conversation with Binxy and her decision was to go try some and get used to the idea--it'll be fun to see what you both decide!! Basically, my thought is there are a LOT of options, beaded, long, lacy, birdcage...so try some! Have fun with it and if you get a cheaper one, then it can be a decision you make later. Mine was $30 on Etsy and it was perfect!

  • I was in a similar position - I never thought I would ever wear a veil and just didn't want to. I ended up ordering my birdcage veil online off of etsy for $8, $3 shipping so $11 total, and didnt decide until my wedding day to wear it. I'd second what the other pp's said - just try some on and get the feel for it. Worst case, you can buy one (an inexpensive one at that) and make up your mind on your wedding day. Just listen to your gut :)

  • Well my post finally decided to show up again! Thanks for all the input! I'm going back to the bridal shop this Saturday with my other bridesmaid to get her measured and order her dress, so I think I'll try on a few more veils and get a feel for them. If anything, I know I'll only be wearing it for the ceremony and then take it off for the reception. It's all these little details that start to make me lose it lol I am NOT a planner by any means and I can be pretty indecisive when it comes to having lots of pretty things put in front of me, but when it comes to planning your own wedding you get this wild hair up your butt where everything has to be just how you want it. I guess we'll see what happens with the veil decision!
