Style Me Pretty Overload

So I've been stalking SMP, and I think I'm having a panic attack... I know I still have over a year, but the time isn't the issue.  I just don't think I can pull together that many teeny tiny details!  I'm not sure I can even make all the colors look coordinated!

ACK!!!!  I can't even pick invitations, for gosh sakes!  I really need my own personal graphic designer and team of elves to sit here and create and recreate things for me until it's right.

FI thinks I'm nuts.  My Mom's the queen of the little details, so she swears she's got it covered.  Meanwhile, I'm hyperventilating and having nightmares.

I promise you it'll be okay!

I felt the EXACT same way at points during the planning process. You'll get it done though. I promise!

Have you thought about using Etsy for invitations? I bought a graphic design in our wedding colors with the wording we wanted. It was like $40 for the image and I could print myself. Then I ordered the supplies for the pocket folds in our wedding colors too. I got them from cardsandpockets.com. It looked custom!

I'm stubborn - I'm trying to do it myself, but I'm really rusty on the graphic design stuff I did in high school!  I might end up giving up though and having an Etsy designer do it.

    I really liked these:

Except I want it on a pocketfold.  Our colors are blue on antique gold & cream, with lots of pinks and peach & yellow.  And I've thought the invitations would be in blue, but now I'm debating gold and cream and pink.  I DON'T KNOW!!!

The style of pocketfold would be like this, but I can't figure out what colors:

And this is sort of my wedding color inspiration:

And I feel like I have to have the invitations figured out so I can do the STDs in the same style - ugh, Style Me Pretty is definitely getting to my head...

I think the blue invitation is pretty. It's so soft and it really matches your centerpiece idea. I'm sure the Etsy designer can make the sizes fit to a pocketfold. The etsy seller I ordered from said it was easy to change the sizes.

What if you did the blue invitation, cream paper, and hints of pink in the font?

SMP can totally make you feel overwhelmed. Everything always looks so beautiful, professional, and put together. It can drive someone nuts!

I have never even heard of that website, so I definitely didn't use it for our wedding.

I think the colors you have are really pretty and look great together.  The best way is to just pick one or two colors to use mainly, and then use the other colors for things like floral centerpieces.  The more color you try and incorporate into everything you do, the more overwhelmed you'll be trying to make everything match and be even.  In your inspiration pic it looks like the main colors is the blue and maybe an ivory or cream, and then they just use similar flower colors.  Our main colors were black and white, so most of the stuff we did were in those colors.  Our accent color was pink, and that mainly came into play through our flowers, but because we used different shades of pink flowers we weren't too worried about which shade of pink we used on things like our favors.

The best thing to remind yourself is that NOBDOY is going to remember all the finite details of your wedding except you and maybe your mom.  So if the STD you send out is a cobalt blue, and then you end up going with a robins egg blue for your wedding, nobody will hold it against you.  Or if your tablecloths are cream, but your dress is ivory, nobody will notice but you.  We as brides think of every detail individually and how guests will compare it to other things, but in reality your guests aren't going to see much of anything on it's own, they will see it in a room full of people, in dim lights, while they are having a fantastic time.  So try not to stress too much about the little details, because they can drive you insane!

Don't stress! You're right you do have lots of time!

The design is beautiful and since you have time to tinker with the graphics aspect before you have to decide whether you should just give in and buy them outright or not.
Our invites were a metallic sapphire blue with a gold ribbon and I LOVE them but it took us about 3 months to finally decide on it, so don't feel like you're in the boat alone! haha.. FI seriously spent 2 months just deciding on a save-the-date />_<

I have had plenty of overwhelming moments.. lists definitely help.. Start with big and go down to the little stuff.. if you think of all the little things first you will totally stress yourself out!! I'm sure you know all this already, but sometimes it's good to hear it again ;)

Overall, just trust yourself. You know what you like and what your FI likes.. You have such a great color pallette that it will be easy to make sure everything ties in together. I LOVE those invites and pocketfold you posted btw. beautiful.

Like the girls, you have a LOT of time so no need to stress!

The invites took the longest for me too. I was just indecisive with them. We ordered so many samples, I almost just made them myself. But then I found the perfect one in the end, and had them custom made for us.

Like Beach, stick to 2 colors as your main and you can use the others for little details. We did this with our flower arrangements. Those colors are beautiful and I also like the blue pocketfold invite!

Thanks!  Be careful with SMP... it's so pretty, but so scary!  Before you know it, you're thinking that you just can't possibly get married without custom drink stirrers... I wish I was kidding...

Love that site - hehe you'll be ok. I love your colors btw and those two ideas look great. The blue and the cream especially. if you wanted to use three colors I'd use on for the pockets and the other two on the invitations themselves.

Im struggling with doing all my own graphics too. I don't want to do it to myself, but at the same time sooo nit picky

I think it comes and goes like LHT said. example when we first got engaged and I didn't know if we were having the wedding in 6 months or 2 years i was freaking out trying to pick things and get stuff figured out, and until yesterday I was completely ignoring it for the most part. not a care in the world. woke up this morning budget crisis for no reason. so deep breath and no second guessing :)

You know what played into the color of our invites? H said he didn't want any of his guy friends getting a pink invite. I asked if purple was okay and he said-- how purple. haha So I picked a gray pocket fold, white paper with the purple damask paper as a runner on the top. We did white inserts except for the purple/pink RSVP card. Purple belly band and square deal with the left over purple paper.

TBH what helped me a lot was going to a DIY paper supply company where they let you make a mock up for free. If there is a similar place near you, you could make a mock up of the different colors you like and see which looks best in the end. They also had mock ups for table numbers, escort cards etc. It made it much easier. If there isn't a place like that then stick with esty. ;)
